In the ER:(
Some kind of GI thing, maybe gall bladder. Not worried, just bummed about the inconvenience and the pending bills!

1. That stinks, especially on a Sat. night, sorry! Hopefully nothing too expensive,
I have no health insurance and share your dread of the bills.

Be well! Update us later, please.

2. Yikes, sending healing vibes and light your way
I hope it isn't serious. I'm also without insurance, so, know about the uncertainties over medical costs, even if you have insurance it can be scary.

And yes, do keep us posted.

3. I'm lucky I do have insurance
but nonetheless still have several hundred dollars from my last visit to the ER sitting on a credit card.

4. Thinking of you...

Let us know.

I had a gallbladder attack around 25 years ago. It started me on a path of eating healthier and I take dandelion root and milk thistle to cleanse gallbladder and liver periodically when I feel a "twinge."

Hopefully it's something very minor.

9. Can you talk more about that, OGR?
I have a wonky gall bladder. It's been behaving for the most part since I've been on my low-carb, low-fat, many-small-meals-a-day diet, but it does act up once in a while, so I'd love to have something in my arsenal like dandelion root and milk thistle to get it to calm down when it does misbehave. Thanks! :hi:

Not quite the way you planned to spend your weekend, I'm guessing. Hoping for a quick recovery.

7. I had pain in my back
for 15 years. A spot just below the shoulder blade, to the right of the spine. It felt like someone was stabbing me with a knitting needle and twisting it around, very excruciating sometimes. I always put it down to a chronic back injury from the heavy work I used to do as a paramedic. I'd been to doctor after doctor and tried physio, massage etc. The only thing that would temporarily ease it was chiropractic but basically I just lived with the constant pain and had given up on it. I was seeing an accupuncturist / Chinese medicine practitioner for another problem and during one of the treatments it had really flared up so I asked if he could do something. It took him about 2 minutes to diagnose gall bladder and with 1 treatment and herbs he fixed it. Occasionally now if I feel a twinge in that spot I take the herbs again.

If the allopathic doctors had diagnosed it properly, their solution would have been to yank out the gall bladder. Good luck, I hope you are ok. If you have access to some Chinese medicine, you might want to give that a try.

11. Gallstones it is!
Home now convalescing. They said I should probably start thinking about surgery soon but otherwise loaded me up with pain meds and sent me on my way. Thanks for the energy everyone!

13. I had cholecystitis (inflamed gallbladder), not stones

I didn't have stones, so a regimen of cleansing, to include milk thistle (capsule form) and dandelion root (both capsule and tea form) have kept things going for me, without the need for medical intervention.

Geez, dude, I hope you feel better soon!!!!! Especially if you have to wait until Christmas?

14. Don't know that I HAVE to wait til Christmas
but they didn't seem to think there was a great hurry as long as my symptoms subsided (which they seem to be). Thought I'd try and wait til Christmas break if I could!

16. I'm so happy it worked for you!
My husband was throwing up bile over night and I MADE him go to the ER. the next morning, with his MD's encouragement. They did it laporascopically. and he died! Gave him a good case of MRSA along with the "safe surgery" NO SURGERY IS SAFE!! I'm sorry for yelling, but that's the way I feel about it! I've heard some hospitals will do the "ultra sound" shock procedure to break up the stones. (or is that just for kidney stones?) I'm so against surgery unless absolutely necessary . That's why I'm so glad my Dr.'s opted for the epidural shots for my pinched nerves in my back. It may take time, and other shots, but I'll go that route, and save surgery as the last resort!

18. Mostly just lurking and taking"jabs" at people .....!
sorry if I came off so abrupt, but it's a very sore spot with me. Perhaps someone younger and in good overall health would fare better than my guy did, but it still hurts that I MADE HIM GO IN! I can't sit too long in one position, and some days are better than others, but so far so good. I have to call them tomorrow and let them know what I'm feeling and or, not feeling. Wrote another post more suitable for face book, but this was my last stop before bed, so it ended up here!! Nite ALL!!
