Well, how very cool that you are all here! I had no idea!!
I just recently joined DU and until a few moments ago, had never ventured past the main lobby area, where I would tend to hang mostly in the lounge.

THIS forum is definitely right up my alley! I'm gonna like it in here!

A heartful greeting, One and All!!

Blessings,
~Shine

2. Oh girl, I'm into ALL of it.!
Had my first Tarot deck at 12, was raised on astrology, am now into earth-based, goddess spirituality, aromatherapy, buddhism, among many many other things....

I've been in a moon circle with 11 other women for over 10 yrs. We do monthly rituals at the full moons and high holidays, like the recent Autumn Equinox.

I also work as a hospice volunteer, so I'm greatly interested in issues related to death and dying....the greatest Mystery of all.

Why are we here? What is the purpose of our lives? How do we maintain Balance, Hope, Trust, Love, and Peace in these challenging times? These are questions I think about every day and I love, love, love talking about them, too!!

Thanks for your warm welcome, my friend.

9. Thank ya, darlin'!
Yeah, as soon as I got hip to the fact there were sooooo many other little "rooms" to check out, I started lookin' around to see what I could see. The astro spirituality one is a good fit for me.

What's the Meeting Room all about? How does it differ from the Lounge? I'm curious for your perspective on that. Still tryin' to get the hang of this place....

Thanks for the warm welcome, friend!

13. well.......................
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 08:05 PM by Desertrose
the MR used to be our home. Then all the "so called skeptics" around here pitched a big fat hissy fit...everytime any of the astrologers posted anything. It used to be a nice cozy room til they decided that according to THEM we are just too stupid to be allowed to post there.... (or anywhere on DU if it was up to them)

After many hassles, Skinner decided to open up a bunch of special interest group-rooms and advised us to word our mission statement in such a way as to eliminate those who disagreed with us or just wanted to flame...and so we did and here we are!

The MR is much slower than the lounge and has basically turned into the place where you post whatever doesn't fit into the other forums. It used to move much quicker but since there are so many groups, its definitely slowed down.

Anyhooo....glad you found this one to be a good fit for you.

14. Thanks for the backround history, Desertrose. Hmmm...interesting....
I've noticed, in my short time here at DU, how people in the Lounge tend to occasionally make disparaging remarks (seemingly in jest, but also somewhat serious) about the GD forum or even worse, GD Politics. It's amusing to me how, even in cyberspace, people feel compelled to mark out their little territories. They want the distinctions made very clear, apparently. And I am truly amazed at just how many distinctions there are! I guess that's a good thing, as long as everybody stays happy. Ah, there's the rub.... :eyes:

Maybe this is all par for the course in a place like this. I haven't done much of this sort of thing before..ie, post on message boards, so it's all new to me. It's cool, though. Democracy, in action.

Hey, btw, why is it that people tend to explain their editing changes? Please excuse my lame-nitude, but does it really matter if someone misspelled a word and went back to change it? In other words, what would happen if I went back and made a change and DIDN"T say exactly what I had done? Would the sky unravel? Is this just DU protocol? You seem to know the inner workings of this place pretty well, so thought I'd ask....

Thanks, again, for your good energy towards a newbie, my dear!

15. Hi!
Welcome :hi: I don't usually explain my "edits". Sometimes I have to make a few of them before I'm satisfied to let my post stand. Sometimes I do put a small explanation. There isn't any rule about it. Do what makes you comfortable.

Enjoy!

16. No, the sky won't unravel! I
should know..I've done it both ways.

It's mostly for posters who want to clarify that they didn't change the meaning of their post when they went back to "edit"~

Welcome to DU, Shine.. You seem like a big ray of Sunshine. B-)

17. Hi Shine! Welcome to our cozy part of the world!
:hi: This forum is where we come when we need our spirits rejuvinated, or to make sense of what is going on in politics (the other forums) with the help of our astrology, tarot, iching and psychic friends. We find help in alternative healing, and an education in enlightenment, or higher thought.

Some of the best links on the web are posted in this forum, in my opinion. Amazing stuff!

 Glad to have you among us!
