I had a really great time. I went as a Fairy. I had planned on making my own wings but time got away from me so I bought a pair and jazzed them up MagickMuffin style. My make up was rather like I always wear it with the exception of adding eyeshadow to the temples using a stencil design. It looked really awesome.
I made a batch of homemade ice cream the first batch this year, as my freezer isn't working and can't afford to fix it so I haven't been able to make any this year :( However, I was really excited about getting the opportunity to make some for my Mystic friends and their friends. But it started out as the ice cream from Hell :scared: I usually make French Vanilla which means I use a custard recipe. Everything was perfect until I started adding it to the canister. Then whoosh, splat, the canister *tumped over and more than half spilled out all over the counter, and floor. "OH NO, OH NO!" Hubby came running to witness the disaster. I managed to save what was left and had to make a decision whether to add more milk or fix another smaller batch of custard. I opted for the custard. Wasn't certain how it would turn out. After cleaning up the mess I made the custard and added it to the canister. Hubby put the motor on and started adding the ice to the bucket. I took over that task and away it went after adding the ice and rock salt. I filled the canister to full and it was oozing out the top, but I didn't mind, I always fill it fuller than suggested. Finally the motor stopped. However, one last problem reared it ugly head. My motor has to be placed in the bucket a certain way, it even has the directions printed on it, but hubby put it in the wrong way. Yup, it didn't want to come out, he had to really work to get it out of the bucket, which I'm glad he was able to without destroying the bucket which is made of wood. Now came the time to judge whether or not it would be worthy of taking to the party. Yea, Yippeee, it tasted Wonderful and delicious. I even made hot fudge sauce to go on top. YUM!
Now it was time to figure out what exactly I was going to wear as the basis of my costume. I had some leggings that has a lacy shirt attached to it that I've had for a very long time. Perfect or so I thought. I haven't worn it in a very long time. So, I try it on and whamo the elastic is worn out. Now what! I knew I had a corset like device that perhaps might hold everything together. What do ya know the perfect solution. I worn a black shirt, so I was all decked out in black. Even my fairy wings are black with blue spots and silver glitter. I added a big gigantic blue rhinestone antique pin to the wings where they meet in the middle, and I used a long reddish scarf of flow down the back. It looked fabulous.
I got ready to leave. I was 30 minutes late, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Everyone loved my costume, as well as the ice cream and fudge sauce.
There were pirates (male & female), neanderthals (male & female), a wizard, a gypsy, a jailbird, a jazz musician, a pothead (guy who cut a hole in a plastic cauldron and wore it on his head), an Egyptian Priestess, an injured man, policewoman, and some more that didn't dress up.
Our raffles are a hoot as it is more like a white elephant gift kinda thing. Everyone that wants to, brings something and adds it to the table. Then tickets are drawn and winners get to claim their prize. I bought $11 worth of tickets but got an extra because the ticket giver thought I only got ten.
There was a lovely angel that I was hoping I might win. When it finally came down to her, I watched my numbers on the ticket as he called them out. :woohoo: he called my numbers. I also won a few other gifts, but the angel was the only thing I really wanted.
We cleaned up and everyone went their separate ways.
*I realize tumped isn't a "real" word. However, I have been using it my whole life and never knew it wasn't a word until I started working at the newspaper in the proofreading room when I used it and was told it wasn't a word. Even looked it up in the dictionary and discovered to my surprise that it wasn't in there
