I thought this story very interesting because it supports my observation about ghosts "coming out of the wood work." I don't remember if any of you remember some posts I made when I started my house renovation last fall. I had several incidents: a new bedside stand which had a mirrored top cracked. In addition, a new, custom-made love seat developed a perfectly round hole in the arm.
My neighbor, who renovated the mansion, told me she had an increase in ghost activity, too. In one case the ghosts slammed a basement door on a plumber. The odd thing was that this door had been wedged open through shifts in the foundation of this old house. The plumber was not locked in or anything like that, but this door had not moved since who knows when.
The plumber, who does a lot of work on the old mansions in this area, told my neighbor that he and his team had experienced things like this before. For whatever reason, plumbing and water seems to facilitate ghost activity.
This story tells how more ghosts were seen after the New Zealand earthquake on Sept. 4:

AWAKE? The earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.
The "sheer strength and power" of the September 4 earthquake has more than doubled the number of reported supernatural events in Canterbury, a paranormal investigator says.
Christchurch Paranormal Investigators founder Anton Heyrick said his team had received an "interesting influx" of phone calls and emails after the 7.1-magnitude earthquake, with more than double the usual number of inquiries.
"People are calling us, saying that they had always felt like there was something in the house, but since the earthquake it had become more intense," he said.
