1. I would like to be stuck in the elevator with Jupiter since we would
have fascinating conversations about all sorts of interesting topics and we would travel the world in our minds and hearts. But I'd want Saturn in there if I hoped to get out as Saturn would get us out and make sure that I knew how to fix the elevator myself so that this would not happen to anyone else.

and very interesting too! I had a hard time, but decided upon the Sun. It gives us life and vitality. It might get a bit hot in there, but I would want the source of life to be in there with me! I think it would help me stay upbeat too.

My first reaction was to choose Venus; it just feels more calm and loving when I think of the planets. I'd need that if I were stuck in a confined space.

44. Just to make you happy, I picked my good friend Saturn
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 08:33 AM by Oak2004
What's not to like about that which gives form and structure and makes things manifest? Crazy dreaming may seem a fun way to escape a humdrum reality, but wouldn't actually making that reality be more fun?

The two of us together would seem slow and boring. We'd make concrete plans about what to do and how to spend our time. But I'd bet we'd be the first pair to actually escape the elevator.

I have a seemingly happily aspected second house natal Jupiter in Libra, in contrast with much of the rest of my natal chart, which is loaded with hard aspects. No, this does not mean I have lots of money. It means I've been dirt-poor all my life, unable to resist giving away more than I own to whatever really good and just purpose walks past me (like, say, ohh, making an open-ended commitment to rehabilitate an abused parrot). I can't even resist when I know to watch out for it. Jupiter transits exacerbate the issue.

Granted my financial situation is complicated by my having little to begin with due to having a severely deformed spine and bad joints (natal Leo sun in a stellium squared by Saturn(-opposition-Moon, in a T-square)), but just how much of a disaster do you think Ascendant plus Sun (in Leo) plus Pluto plus Mars would be if it had not been tempered with a very strong dose of Saturn? I know what Sun-soaked direction I was careening towards in my late teens/early twenties, before I started asking questions of myself, and the only good thing I can say for it is that it would have burnt out fast. Saturn is certainly for me the gift of time.

That Jupiter/Uranus conjunction has been opposing my second house planets. Yep, Jupiter opposition Jupiter-- it's cash bleeding time again for me, and I'd have no hope, were it not for my hero, Saturn, riding in on a white-- er, dirty gray-- steed. I'm far from out of the woods --Saturn does not bring boons quickly, and so it rarely gets credit for thee boons it brings, but bring boons it does.

(Boons? Saturn?!? What kind of boons do I, crazy woman, think Saturn is associated with? The kind that involve making something concretely manifest in the world. All other boons don't need Saturn ;) )

So what is beginning to turn for me? My dirty gray knight arrived (Saturn conjunct Venus, then Jupiter) and I have begun to sell, at a slow steady pace... rocks. Pretty rocks (Venus+Saturn). Even filled a small wholesale export order (Jupiter).

An angle I don't much see explored, but think is overlooked, is Saturn's role as traditional ruler of Aquarius in the new age. I do not think traditional rulerships just go away when a new planet is assigned a sign. Mechanics (Saturn) didn't disappear as a field of physics when electromagnetism (Uranus) was uncovered in the 19th century. The heady rapture of Theosophists and New Thought writers notwithstanding, knowing about the properties of electricity and magnetism in no way negates the limits and bounds of mechanics. If anything it amplifies them. An atom is not, as the canard would have it, "mostly empty space". It's mostly an intense electromagnetic field, and inasmuch as electromagnetism is a much, much more powerful force than the force of mechanics (gravity), we cannot walk our powerful electromagnetic field through that of the wall's electromagnetic field. If we mustered enough energy to force one field through the other the result would be a disruption of the elecromagnetic fields which bound and bind us which would be so severe as to destroy both.

Similarly I think the Age of Aquarius is the age of Saturn, an age of limits, boundaries, and of making manifest. I doubt anyone will write a song about this dimension ;) , or that this view is very appealing. But I can't think of a better boon to a planet dying of "limitless" economic expansion than some time in the elevator with Saturn.

45. This is a wonderful tribute to Saturn.
I also respect Saturn; it's very strong in my chart. (I am a Capricorn with a 4-planet stellium in Capricorn -- Saturn being one of them. I also have two planets and the North Node in the 10th house.) I might have chosen Saturn if I didn't already know it so well. I was looking for something a little different.

Saturn has my respect; if you do the work, Saturn will usually see that you're rewarded. Saturn is meritocratic and also rewards us for long-term thinking rather than the short-term thinking that has screwed up the US. Saturn expects us to have integrity and to be brave, both of which are lacking in much of humanity these days.

Thank you for your analysis of Saturn.

49. I think that Saturn expects us to be adults and to be responsible.
Saturn doesn't let us count on mommy or daddy to fix things for us.

(Please remember that I don't necessarily know what I'm talking about. I'm just going with my feelings. I know just enough to be dangerous. :silly:)

OGR, in your natal chart, you have the moon in the 10th house, and you have Saturn in the first house conjunct your ascendant. (Plus various other aspects involving Saturn.) Using Rick's method, I think that the Saturn being conjunct your ascendant would make you quite Saturnian. (It's not a close conjunction, but it's still conjunct.) There could also be things in your various harmonic charts that show even more Saturnian influence. I can't check that since I don't have the software to do that. (Yet.) Also, using Rick's method, Saturn is the ruler of your chart since your ascendant is in Aquarius. As Rick teaches it, the ruler of the chart is based upon the ascendant, and the classical rulers of the signs are used rather than the modern rulers. The classical ruler of Aquarius, as oak said, is Saturn -- not Uranus, which is the modern ruler of Aquarius. Therefore, that makes Saturn very strong in your chart.

OK, Rick will probably come by and tell me that everything that I said was wrong and that I'm misrepresenting his teachings (), but this is how I see Saturn in your natal chart.

By the way, in karmic astrology, the modern ruler of the sign is used to determine the ruler of the chart, so in that type of astrology, Uranus would rule your chart. (This is the way it is in the type of karmic astrology that I know, at least.)

Astrological interpretation is so personal that others may see things very differently than what I stated. Again, this is the best that I can give you given my level of understanding.

57. Here's my reasoning...
What I would expect, being stuck in the elevator w/ Pluto - I'd have to confront my fears - i.e the elevator would be stuck at a very high story of a very tall building AND the lights would go out. Just to add to the fun, maybe an earthquake would shake the building. But Pluto would demand transcendence of that fear and then something magical would occur, through an act of effortless pure will. The doors would simply open without any explanation.

Exciting, no?

So, what's your choice, Rick?

I really loved Depp in "Chocolate"
I also loved him as the absinthe drinking opium smoking detective in that Jack the Ripper flick too.
He really plays a wide range of characters and really takes chances in the variety of roles he chooses.
I mean who knew he could sing till Sweeney Todd.

I think Angelina Jolie Is an astounding beauty and very talented .

78. O, Chocolat'!!!
Not only is JD great and sexy in that movie, he also plays a killer guitar as well!
I only caught part of From Hell,
And he is an absolute chameleon when it comes to parts.

I thought his voice was fantastic in STodd- I had to look away during the carvings though.
However when they did Down By The Sea, that walk across the bridge was visually stunning, I thought.

I'm sorry,(and respectfully disagree) I don't think Jolie is a match for Johnny's immense talent.I called her a witch, because the rumor is that she said that "JD partied too much, should have tried to get in better shape for the part, and needed to cut his hair." Whatever!:eyes:

has anything to do with his ability to play both dark and light so easily/convincingly? (Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd)...probably everything to do with the success of Capt. Jack Sparrow.(definitely a two-sided character!) What do you think, Rickster??

64. I chose Jupiter
I am always trying to get the biggest bang for the buck, being a Cap Sun/Merc. :)

So I looked at Venus first, and thought, yeah, beautiful and fun but maybe too shallow if we get stuck for a looong time. I thought about Uranus, for the excitement and thrills of the unexpected, and possibly a clever, inventive way out. I thought about Neptune, for a real spiritual high, and Pluto, for the deep, meaningful, transformational conversation. But then I figured with Jupiter, I could have it all by letting her expand the bits of all of those things that were already inside of me.

And my guess is Jupiter can make you laugh like no other, so there's that, too. I think Jupiter would help me expand my love, my connection to the universe/spirit, my quest for adventure, my faith and optimism.

I loved this exercise, Rick...I really got into it.
:hi:

69. Yes, this group is as colorful as I thought, but I'm pleased to know how knowledgeable they are.
First of all, I THOUGHT we'd see more Jupiter. We didn't. Jupiter is very over-rated planet, as the end-all be-all energy. I can assure you it isn't because I INTENTIONALLY got married in 1983 and had Jupiter placed exactly on the Midheaven. Mistake #1.

Thousands of dollars of bills later, and one divorce....

However, it was what it was intended to be and produced a wonderful Son...

I do feel that people are being too lightly accepting of Neptune and its extremely powerful impact. It has more "downside" than any other planet, in my opinion. I was impressed that someone would dare Pluto and expected El Saturn to get ignored.

Mercury was a great pick, as long as we get rescued rather quickly! Thank heavens, not too many people picked the unpredicable whiny Moon - that was good. Venus was another good choice.

No way do I pick Uranus - too crazy - and I eventually want my ass out of that elevator! Mostly, I'm shocked at how much the Sun is taken for granted. Maybe it's because we do so in everyday life.

A great experiment. I really enjoyed all the answers and am glad that we got a rise out of Johnny Depp too.

I'll do some more when I can think of a good one. :grouphug:

74. Actually, regarding Uranus...
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 07:20 PM by Matariki
I could see as the eccentric genius that would use whatever is at hand, or in pocket, to get the elevator working again.

My thinking about which to choose revolved around which planets would be a partner in getting out of the elevator. What it came down to, in my mind, was Mars, Pluto, Mercury or Uranus.

Mars would have kicked out the ceiling panel and demanded we both climb up the elevator shaft. Mercury and Uranus both would have cleverly figured a way to fix the problem (Mercury you'd have more confidence in from the start, Uranus would surprise you - omg this seemingly crazy dude restarted the elevator with the battery from my cell phone!) and Pluto is a magician. (I guess of all those archetypes, I like magicians best)

Saturn I think would have been all about patiently waiting it out, but the wait would probably include a certain amount of austerity - cold, hunger, thirst. The wait would have been the same with the benefics, just more pleasant and optimistic.

And Neptune - I probably would want to punch Neptune, once s/he started going on about how we created the situation, etc, but just sat there with a dreamy look and no real idea of how to change the situation ;-)

This was lots of fun. Great thread - great question. I loved reading everyone's answers.

"the unpredictable whiny Moon". Interesting that the other person who voted for her didn't want to share. Not surprising due to the Moon's mystery. She would have her Tarot deck in her silver purse and we would just sit down and do readings for each other and explore our inner landscapes.

89. There was a recent Denise Linn show on HHRadio
where she talks about "writing a letter to yourself", only you date it a year from when you actually write it. The purpose is to tell your future self all of the things you accomplished in the past year. When I do this (I need to re-listen to the episode again to make sure I have it all right) I will state that I have finally finished it, though I'm not sure if that's half a year from now or a little longer :)

I'm still tying previous material together and have some other re-writes to do on all that. My girlfriend and I are working in it together again, at least some of the background details, and that will help in later characterizations. I just started a chapter on the main antagonist, though she's shown up in other parts in ways that aren't 'bad'. Some twists, fights and other action still to write, so I'm having fun with it all.

Still not sure if I'll self-publish or try to get an agent, though I am still leaning to self-publishing. I did learn recently that Amazon.com will sell self-published books and eBooks, so that's a good thing to know :D

96. No, I'm writing a book of fiction that includes djinn and centaurs.
Chiron makes a brief (and somewhat enigmatic) appearance, having more to do with centaurs than any other significance.

I really don't know enough about astrology to make any kind of believable connections, so it won't be a part of the book. The esoteric connections I do use have more to do with sacred geometry, sacred sound and out of body experiences :)

I do like the history surrounding him and all the Greek heroes he instructed. It would be appropriate if medical practitioners acknowledge him as the "Grandfather of Medicine" instead of focusing on Asclepius as the Father of Medicine only ;)
