BTW, as I've mentioned periodically, I thought I'd mention again here -- given the door you opened about writers here at ASAH -- that the very first co-operative effort I can envision fairly clearly (I have a general framework in mind but not every step from A to Z) is a publishing co-op (books and music).

Where the consumers and the artists are all invested in the works and help select the works, and thus have a vested interest in the work getting out there...a built-in marketing platform, if you will.

4. It's also good for people to know the difference between self-publishing and vanity publishing

Many don't understand the difference and it gives self-publishing a black eye, even though many successful authors, by all accounts and measures, are choosing self-publishing these days. It simply makes more sense/cents. ;)

I have a feeling this site educates in this regard though I haven't read beyond the home page yet.
