Time is speeding up.

Just before this last time spiral of the underworld takes off,(based on the nine underworlds theory of man's evolution), I am wondering, are our bodies aging or changing faster? One thing I have noticed which is very weird...I touched up my roots, JUST this last Friday evening, and I have already noticed a growing out of said touch up, not a huge amount, but it NEVER happens this quickly. Anyone else have a similar situation, like you just got your hair cut, but need it again??:rofl: :wtf:

I looked in the bathroom mirror, saw my white roots, and said, "WTF! I just colored my hair! Is it growing faster or WHAT?"

And this is not me going senile or anything--I really did just do it a few weeks ago, and it always lasts longer than this. Dude... :wow:

With time speeding up, you don't have time to waste coloring your hair. LOL :P
Perhaps this is a nudge from the Universe to BE WHO YOU ARE.

I was on the hair-coloring merry-go-round for years. Finally decided it was too much trouble & could put the $ to better use.
Amazingly, I got so many comments on how BRAVE I was! I found it very telling. Prime example of how fearful we are to just be ourselves in today's society.

I have never regretted ending that madness. Proud to be me. :hippie:

However, have noticed that the days seem so short to get much of ANYTHING accomplish. I first noticed the speed up about 20 yrs ago....it's just increased steadily ever since in my realm. I expect to fly off the planet pretty soon if this keeps up! O8)

It's a time-suck for sure--I hate doing it. However, when I started to go gray in my late 30s, I realized that it was not a pretty kind of gray by any means. Believe me, it needs to be covered up. x(

Interestingly, my mom always teases me about coloring my hair (although she still colors hers and she's a month shy of 86) because when I was a child I told her I was never going to color my hair. A noble thought...that goes right out the window when the unattractive type of gray shows up, apparently. :hi:

my gray is just too prevalent and my 'natural' color (dishwater brown) doesn't help...so i decided being red was much more in tune with my personality, and many people think it is my natural color...

yes, i OWN my vanity! ;)

When i was a teen, i had skin issues, so i learned i could do my hair as a way to play with new looks and not hurt my skin. It kinda stuck, i like playing with new blends and colors,
...and if my mom says it's too bright or too purple(burgundy) - i know i must be doing something right!:rofl:

my mom has never colored her hair, but she has the irish thing of not really going gray...either that or she handles her stress better than i do! :rofl:

I love my chosen color (Clairol Natural Selections "cinnaberry"), but sometimes it does trend toward burgundy. And when Mr. MG said, "Your hair's purple" I say "Good!"

Same brand. It didn't go over well w/my SO and didn't really suit me either. Looked weird w/my black eyebrows :D

but she's in the minority--I get compliments from lots of people, including complete strangers, on the color. So I'll keep going purple--er, dark red.

Kind of a distinguished look, ya know... but here's the deal when you have thick, wavy, sometimes- kinky hair, the slick silver fox look escapes all good intentions of just letting oneself go or be themselves.

Having said that, I really DO admire ladies who say F*&% it, and go for it! Every once in a while, I'm almost there. Seriously, I think those women are great! BUUUUT hey we can't all be Emmie Lou Harris!!!

Also note, I don't fret about it, and I certainly don't waste money a lot at the beauty parlors, I do it mostly myself, and hey now they have 10 minute-ers!!!

9. I let my hair go completely silver in my dirty thirties.

I have been graying since I was 11.
I was completely silver by 28.
I have been growing it out and haven't cut it in over a year and it does appear to be growing pretty fast.
I have never had long hair before and decided I wanted it down too me butt.

The reason I'm asking is my dad grayed early -- he and all of his brothers & sisters were completely white by their mid 30's -- and my brother and I did as well. My grandmother said that the Irish gray early because our superior intelligence pushes the color right out of our hair. I thought she was just full of Blarney, but then I started going gray in my early 20's, so... Hmmmm.

I'm Irish and from now, that's my story --- I'm so damn smart that my brains used up all the stuff that the hair needed.

BTW, I got my first gray hair at 13 (a classmate in the schoolyard brought it to my attention) and have been doing permanent all-over color since 30. Back then, I thought that when I'm 45, I'll stop dyeing my hair. Gray hair will look appropriate on me then.

Well, I'm now on the other side of 45 and still am dyeing my hair. I guess I'll never stop.

I *know* i paid extra attention to the front of my hair last time, about 2 weeks ago...already grown out 1/4 inch...seriously!

Also, the feeling of time standing still, then racing ahead... both ends of the spectrum. Like I am working and look at the clock and it's been only 5 min since the last time i looked, then 2 hours fly by!

22. How fast those unwanted gray roots start showing

is a function of just how much gray hair you actually have.

I went through two distinct episodes of dying my hair, first in my 40's, when the gray was not pretty and was simply aging. After about ten years I decided to go au naturel, grew it out, and then kind of blonded it for a while. Then I got a new hairdresser who told me I was definitely too young to be gray, and he was fantastic! Loved what he did and it looked great. But as the hair growing out was getting grayer and grayer, I was needing to do it every two weeks. In my humble opinion if you're going to color your hair, do it right and cover the roots as soon as they show.

Anyway, even before the two weeks was up the roots were noticeable, so I decided to bite the bullet and grow it out again. I love my silver hair, and it's wonderful not being tied to frequent hair appointments.

Also, how often you need a new cut or trim is a function of just how long your hair is, and the exact cut you get. Plus, if your own hair grows unevenly, it requires more frequent cuts.

Took me a long time to figure this all out. The important thing, to me, is that long or short, dyed or not, I think it's a good idea to try to look reasonably good and well-groomed.

26. Began graying at 26...wavy, thick, coarse very dark brown hair

that was very resistant to color...so I had to use the permanent stuff. Never went to salon, just used off the shelf "cheap" stuff. I began coloring it when I was afraid it would hurt me in my job search, as I was re-entering the job market after staying home w/my kids for 8 yrs. (Ironically, I'm about to hit the job search trail again this summer...only this time, I'm fearless & GRAY!)

My gray was patchy & not "even". After you've been coloring for a number of years, the only way to know HOW your gray really is is to let it go natural. It does tend to even out over time. My hair grew so fast I was having to color every 3 wks (skunk). After 9 yrs of this madness, decided one day that I did NOT need another JOB, which this had become.

Ever since I can remember, my hair was the bane of my existence.
Love FREEDOM FROM my hair now. Not only is it gray, but it is also SHORT...got to have a good cut.
Wash & wear.....no blow drying.....NOTHING!

30. All this talk of grey hair

Years before my mother passed in her 70's, she was upset she did not have grey hair, so she would get her hair frosted. Seriously, she complained about it! I thought it was funny since it looked just fine to me.

Now here I am at 59 and apparently have the same gene. My hair is dark/medium blond and the few white hairs I get have a mind of their own. They will stand straight up while the rest of my hair is flat or want to go in a different direction. I have a few eyelashes like this, too, and they will remain straight no matter how long I hold the eyelash curler on them. I call them my wild hairs. I gave up on wearing mascara for that reason and said screw it.


I have noticed though my eye wrinkles seem to be multiplying at a more rapid pace.....

I have relatives, that seem to have kept most grays at a distance, no matter what age! I also had a few that went all gray at 26. Most women are never totally happy with their hair. Too gray, too kinky, too straight, the list goes on! HAHA!

I've also noticed my most recent haircut is already grown out

after just 5 weeks--it usually takes at least 7 weeks. Reading these responses, I'm thinking of letting the grey grow out.

This thread has me laughing.

Grey here. Started turning grey in my 20's. Now I can't dye it because my scalp says no.

Mostly Irish with a little Norwegian thrown in. BTW, don't complain about what your hair does. If it is there it is good. :) I had three color hair, with red, blond and brown. The brown turned grey. The blond stayed blond- but the red just fell out! Thanks gd I was mostly brown. LOL.

As for time moving faster. I always heard that it did as you get older, but lately it seems incredibly fast.
I think I need a haircut. :)
