Great News!

I don't know if anyone here remembers but about a month ago my husband's work roommate from his Tennessee job had gotten in a horrible car accident and was given emergency surgery, admitted into the ICU on a ventilator. My dh went down there to see him, met and talked with his sister and came back home with the dog-- Samon. His friend has no family except the dog (and of course, his elderly frail parents and his sister who lives in another state).

Well, the hospital has discharged him to a rehab and yesterday he woke up and recognized his sister. He hasn't spoken yet (still on the ventilator) but he did communicate. His first question: "Where is Samon?"

This is great news! We are thrilled. This means he will be able to get weaned off the vent now as he is conscious.
