New book find: "A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah E. Harkness
I was at the library about a week ago & spied this book in the New Books section. Since I needed something new to read, I checked it out. It was a little slow-going for me in the beginning, (probably more due to all the stuff going on in my life right now), but now I have to fight myself to put it down. It is apparently a three-part story, with Part 2 slated for release in 2012.

It involves witches, vampires, & daemons, but not in a "Twilight-y" let's all hang around in trees & bitch about how much immortality sucks sort of way. Oh, and the vampires don't sparkle, either.

The main character, Diana Bishop, is a direct descendant of a woman hung as a witch in Salem in 1692. She's researching alchemy in Oxford, when she stumbles on a lost manuscript. I won't say more, cuz I don't want to give anything away.

The Amazon site has some interesting info as well, so check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Discovery-Witches-Novel-Deborah-Harkness/dp/0670022411

8. Most definitely
:)

I'm wondering if I'll be able to hold on until 2012 when Book 2 comes out. Oh well, perhaps there will be a new Harry Dresden novel to help me bide the time in the meanwhile.....

9. Just finished it!
An extra little thrill-- much of it is set near my home in upstate NY. Madison, it seems to either be Madison county or a made up town in Oneida County. (An area that has attracted many spiritualists in the past. I'm surprised she didn't allude to Lilydale.

Now I have to wait a whole year!

11. Decisions. Decisions.
Do I get it as an audiobook or a book? Just found out that audible.com has it and the narrator sounds fine. Love this kind of dilemma :D

Debating the audio because I have to make time just to read nowadays, and once started that's All I want to do. The Kindle Has to be my next electronic purchase.
