ALBERT EINSTEIN ON THE SCIENCE OF ASTROLOGY
Subject: Albert Einstein on Astrology
From: Dr. Jai Maharaj
Date: July 8, 2002
"Astrology is a science in itself and contains an
illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things
and I am greatly indebted to it. Geophysical evidence
reveals the power of the stars and planets in relation to
the terrestrial. In turn, astrology reinforces this power
to some extent. This is why astrology is like a life
giving elixir to mankind."

Ahem...lurker here.
Jai didn't make up the book--I have my copy right in front
of me, a batter old thing 109 pages long, published in
1931, which is probably why it's both out of print, and the
company out of business (not all businesses folded right
away after the Crash of `29, some did a few years later).
The book's full title is: COSMIC RELIGION: WITH OTHER
OPINIONS AND APHORISMS.
Here's a quote from this book (the chapter titled "On
Science," pp. 97-98):
"I believe in intuition and inspiration...
Einstein's] At times I feel certain I am right while not
knowing the reason. When the eclipse of 1919 confirmed my
intuition, I was not in the least surprised. In fact, I
would have been astonished had it turned out otherwise.
Imagination is more important than knowledge. For
knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the
entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to
evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in
scientific research.
"THE BASIS OF ALL SCIENTIFIC WORK IS THE CONVICTION THAT
THE WORLD IS AN ORDERED AND COMPREHENSIVE ENTITY, WHICH IS
A RELIGIOUS SENTIMENT. MY RELIGIOUS FEELING IS A HUMBLE
AMAZEMENT AT THE ORDER REVEALED IN THE SMALL PATCH OF
REALITY TO WHICH OUR FEEBLE INTELLIGENCE IS EQUAL."
This book also contains Einstein's musings about the Jews,
especially in a chapter called "The Jewish Homeland," as
well as his thoughts on pacifism. In addition, there is
"An Appreciation" by George Bernard Shaw, the text of which
is actually "from an address delivered at the dinner for
Professor Einstein in London, October 27, 1930," footnote
at the bottom of p. 31.
You cynics out there may dismiss Einstein's words, but the
fact is that this book is real (albeit hard to find); it
was written by Albert Einstein (yes, *that* Albert
Einstein, the father of Relativity) and published by
Covici-Friede in New York, in 1931.
And Paul : You owe Jai and every astrologer you've
so smugly maligned, an apology. Not that I'm holding my
