! I think I've got a Cooper's Hawk nesting around my house!
Not sure if it's nesting or just spending some time hunting;but it has been showing itself to me in the last two days (perching on the carport outside one computer room window; and on the fence behind the other computer room window). Beautiful, beautiful bird. I looked up the symbolism; this seemed to be the best descriptor so far:

http://divinesparks.blogspot.com/2008/04/hawk-symbolism.html

..I must add that I've been being nudged toward re-awareness of the Native American part of my heritage (I believe it's either 1/8th or 1/16th - not that much; but you know how families like to keep their secrets!) I'm not sure how much this has to do with it; however.

But it's so cool! I'll try to get a good pic soon...

Any ideas what this might be trying to tell me?

2. remember how you were saying a bit ago
Edited on Wed Jun-15-11 07:32 PM by FirstLight
that bast was angry at you well isn't the egyptian god Horus the one with the falcon/hawk head?
here:
http://www.king-tut.org.uk/egyptian-gods/horus.htm

also, one of the first things i thought of was that the kitty energy had to be taken down a notch for him to come see you...

I'll look for more stuff ... Hawk is Messenger between heaven & earth, so definitely keep listening to your guides! (and look for other things associated with the hawk, like snakes, rodents, etc...see if he leaves you any 'presents')

edit to add link

5. That's quite possible,
about the kitty energy..hmm.
I also wonder if he's a messenger from someone..? There's a person in my life who seems to be very highly evolved (purple/indigo energy - I thought *I* was an indigo, but I'm not very sure). THat person is not physically near (about 4 hours away) but seems to be concerned about my well-being. Could this be to 'keep an eye' on me? I know that sounds a bit weird..sigh. Just a thought.

10. I saw one today too!
as i was driving the kids to school, we were stopped and I was talking to my daughter next to me...saw one fly right across the street, very low, up the next block... and he was being chased by a couple little birds! they obviously didn't want him in their neighborhood!

sometimes when totems show up like this, especially the messenger, i try to remember what i was thinking or saying at the moment...to see whether there's significance to the message...

this morning i was asking my kids if they had to leave the house with only what they could carry, what would they bring?
(My daughter was going on about how we needed to save all her stuff and childhood memories, i had told her there was not enough room for all that stuff to carry it with you through life...)

very interesting, since right now i am working on releasing my OWN baggage ;)

3. I love the Hawks!
The Redtail is my Totem. I love the Cooper's. Such magnificent creatures. Keep the kitties under wraps though, the epic struggle of life and death is much more interesting if it doesn't include one's own.

4. I only
have *one* kitty left; and she's indoor;although she does tend to dart out the front every now and then. I'll keep an extra tight notice on her; thanks..

7. We have lots of bird feeders and I think the Hawks
like to look closely at the little birds, but strangely have never made any attack on anything here (they land in a tree nearby.) One day 2 squirrels were taunting the hawk and it did nothing. I was so surprised.

9. Their favorite meal is Morning Dove.
I live in the southern desert of California. Cooper's hawks everywhere, everyday. We have many doves also. That's what they like. But I never let my two chihuahuas outside without me. The Mockingbirds around here imitate the Cooper's call and warn the other birds. It's amazing to watch. Do keep an eye on your kitty. :)

11. All hawks and raptors like doves and pigeons too.
They are also easy to catch. So don't just blame the Coopers. My kitty once caught a mouse just before his first birthday on the pasture behind my house. He was playing with it and I went to get him away from in, when a Red Tail hawk swooped down and snatched the mouse right up in front of him and before I could get to him. Kitty got so scared that even today, ten years later, he hides when he hears the hawks calling. It scared me too. Them's one lightening fast mutha's.

8. Oh those are so cool!
We don't get many because the Red Tail hawks chase them off, but they are fun to watch in flight.
