America’s Identity Crisis
and
Misplaced Rage

(Keep in mind that all of these themes pertain to your personal life too.)

Mars is the agitator. From August 3rd through the 11th, it will oppose Pluto and stir up the great triangle (T-square) you see above. This is why things are so severe on an international, national, local and personal level. (Add to it the fact that Mercury goes retrograde August 2nd and we’re in for lots of fun.)

There’s a real good part to this too. Let me see if I can explain.

This on-going T-square of Saturn opposite Uranus forming a right angle to Pluto has been what has been causing the great tension the past 3 years, besides the simple fact that Pluto has been in Capricorn (making us pay for past waste and flippancy) since 2008 until 2023. Consider the fact that in the USA’s birth chart, Venus (monetary systems) is at 2° Cancer. Pluto has been directly opposite it as it bombards Venus, while Uranus has been squaring it. That’s why the global and US financial systems are tilting. New solutions must be found (Uranus) and many are hanging on to the old (Saturn), which is exactly what you do not do with Uranus.

Get this: the Federal Reserve’s chart has natal Sun at 1° Capricorn opposite Pluto at 0° Cancer. So, it’s been getting a direct hit for 3 years. Very dangerous! Time for massive restructuring, or extinction. None of these things are happening TO US. We’ve created our reality.

Saturn and Uranus have been having it out since the election and fortunately we can see that Saturn is starting to move away from this direct opposition to radical Uranus. This has been symbolized by the bitter fighting between the Right and the Left since then. The fight will continue, but as we can see, Pluto is involved and whenever it gets in the middle of things, actual survival always becomes an issue. Pluto doesn’t really “care” if the race survives or not; it’s here to protect the Earth.

The Saturn-Uranus fight has been like watching 2 children fighting in the back seat on a long hot summer traveling across the country. With no A/C. Neither side will budge and Pluto WILL bring an end to it. With Mars getting involved, crossing into 0° Cancer on 8/3, ISN’T IT A COINCIDENCE THAT THAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR THE RAISING OF THE DEBT CEILING? We see how intimately involved astrology is. Mars wants action.

So, take it slow for me, what is the Saturn-Uranus opposition all about? Saturn has been trying to take things back to the old ways. Uranus is the opposite, it wants to be progressive. Saturn HAS NO CHANCE against the universal power of Uranus (The Tower Card.) Saturn holds on to the status quo, Uranus breaks it into little pieces. If Saturn bends, all will be okay, otherwise if it’s too rigid, it will break. The two need to work together, but whoever heard of that before in these UNITED States (since 1945)? A healthy relationship between the two means, Saturn builds, steadies and stabilizes the country, Uranus cracks it apart so the novel can enter.

He did it. She did it. They did it. He’s to blame. They’re to blame. That’s how these two can get. Sound familiar?

Now that Saturn is moving on, what will that mean? Basically, the conservative voice (Saturn) will get quieter, believe it or not. Uranus will be left alone for several years to combat Pluto in a square that is a direct answer to when the two (Uranus and Pluto) traveled together which was in what is known as the SIXTIES! 1961-1969, these two powerful planets brought the huge revolution to our culture. So, with Saturn out of the way, the fight between these two heavyweights will become less restricted – off with the gloves. Saturn will continue on further into Libra and will probably become much more productive with much less static interference. Saturn’s optimal place is in the sign of Libra – so, we will probably see much more sanity from the Supreme Court. The controversial and monumental ruling they made in terms of allowing foreign entities to unboundedly contribute to our election campaigns (to own them) was because Saturn was being overwhelmed by heavy-duty Pluto in Capricorn. Expect changes in that issue since Saturn (true justice) will be able to “see” clearer.

What has Saturn squaring Pluto been causing? Notice on a smaller scale how schools are starting to get much more serious about stopping (Saturn) bullying (Pluto)? How we’ve trying to contain nuclear power (Pluto/Japan). New regulations (Saturn) against powerful corporations (Pluto) and that fight? Notice how Saturn has been doing its best to uncover and stop all the corruption dug up by Pluto in Capricorn ever since late 2007? On and on it goes. So many examples. Both planets are very serious and are clearly the two stern ones of the zodiac. The two “caused” the 9/11 catastrophe, the Holocaust, ethnic cleansings, nuclear power, huge oil spills, etc. You don’t fool with these two. They are mainly why things seem so grim today. We need serious answers to serious problems to stay one step ahead of their destructive powers. They are not CAUSING the decay, they are merely EXPOSING it. Eventually, some force has to, for the sake of evolution. Sooner or later you just have to go down into the bowels of your basement to see how bad it’s become. Same inside of us.

What has Uranus squaring Pluto been causing? Besides my reference to the 60’s, we need to see that this in one way is a repeat of that time. Why? Because when two planets conjunct or line up together as Uranus and Pluto did in the early 60’s, they eventually get to where they make a right angle to each other years later. That is now. Notice how racial issues are at a max now along with the fact that we have an Afro-American President. This has a direct correlation to the 1963 Civil Rights Act. The square after a conjunction asks, “Is it working? Has the equal rights changes of the 60’s really been effective or not?” Racism is rampant to this day and still sits in the very middle of much of our social dis-ease.

Besides race, whenever Uranus combines with Pluto, the usage of power comes into question. The very existence of the USA is threatened now because of misuse of power. This is the very same dynamic that has brought down all great civilizations. We still have military bases in 175 countries? Why? We feel entitled to be the world’s police? Just how arrogant have we become? We are walking on very thin ice with Pluto because even though it is deadly, it believes in fairness across the board. No wonder our markets are shaking and we are faced with a lowering of our international credit rating. Pluto means serious business. Notice all the discord in many of the other countries from Mexico to Egypt to Ireland to Greece to Morocco to Sudan to Syria to Norway to Japan, et al. And Greenland and the Arctic and Antarctica are melting away.

When you don’t want to hear that there is climate change, that means there is none.

I was a filmmaker to 10 years, data base manager for 20, astrologer for 33, that's all. No big secret. Much of it is in the book. We are handing our second final draft back to the editor next week. Inserting the beautiful graphics, then we'll head to Amazon and HOPE for release in September. I don't know exactly because this is my first time. to me. I like that the chart is seeing "the conservative voice will get quieter," "much more sanity from the Supreme Court," and Pluto giving us the power to fight back Sheesh, I'm loving Pluto when it used to frighten me whenever it was mentioned. But it feels so right to go into the bowels of the basement, as you say, to see how really bad it is. So as is happening with the country, I think it's happening on a personal level. And I'm very grateful for the Neptune and Chiron spiritual download, it feels like being in the eye of storm instead of feeling totally thrashed about.

This is intriguing, and something I would have never guessed (conservatives getting quieter).

Speaking as a boomer, the idea of Uranus and Pluto without Saturn is exhilarating, to say the very least. This will be amazing to see. Transformation on a massive scale and with our most important and long lasting institutions!

What a different world it will be, and I think we can see hints of it happening. As an example, I think of the new CAFE standards and how the automotive companies have, for the first time, agreed to higher mileage standards.

My reaction was that it really doesn't matter because people will not be driving with gasoline in 2025 the same way they do now. We are at peak oil and my guess is that by 2025, very few gas-powered cars will be on the road.

After printing it, I didn't realize what I was saying about the conservatives getting quieter. That's not really the case, to speak more accurately, they will have suffered great defeats by Uranus. Remember, the TParty is out of control not because of Saturn but BECAUSE of Uranus being out of control. Eventually, Uranus will crack things that are Saturnian. We're feeling the effects now of their Uranus having caused so much chaos. The down side of Uranus.

But, eventually, the good Uranus (constructive forces for change) will overcome.

Very insightful newsletter. It does feel like Mr Toad's Wild Ride at the moment. I feel like I am on the roller coaster with my hands up in the air screaming. I'm trying to let go and just enjoy the ride, but sometimes I forget and take this all too seriously.

Both sides are crazy right now. We need to envision a better, more progressive future and birth it into fruition. As my yogic teacher says. "The Time is Now. Now is the Time."

They really help me and are proving so true! Sometimes I start worrying that there might be nothing larger in the Universe at play then I read things like Rick's newsletters and see the patterns of larger designs and it really helps me. Even though there is a lot of chaos right now there is a pattern and we aren't just a society of insanity with now settling down in sight, spiraling out of control in a mindless existence.

I've often wondered though if the United States isn't going to have to finally face that it proudly calls itself things it is not, like "free", and governed by the people and for the people? Back in the 60's our country had it thrown in its face that a large number of its citizens weren't really free at all, and that is still a fight. Now we also have gay rights on the front burner and our country having to look at another demographic that has never really been free. I wonder, with the debt crisis if we will be able to face that we are spending all our money on maintaining toe-holds around the world and creating military technologies that will likely never benefit our people instead of taking care of our infrastructure and our citizens at home? Can anything give us the guts to face that?

That's what's so hard to understand, even for me. There is such a tendency when Pluto or Saturn are around to only think of the hardships. The thing that is tough about both of those is that YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM AT THAT TIME. No more under the rug.
But, at the same time, it is symbolic of those very energies swelling up inside of us to meet the challenges.

You have a very good perception of what's going on, I think. The trouble is I just did the natal chart for the TP Party and it is pathetically deluded. And, it is lost in the overreaction of Uranus/Jupiter.

We have to get past all these things, but the big thing is in 2015 when Pluto opposes our Sun in Cancer (USA) and we will be in the heart of the identity crisis. We are all doing the right things here. The TP Party is busy feeding its pain body via Fox TV.

We must pray for it to be shut off across the country.

Pluto will give you all the guts you can muster. The TP will run out of gas and is already eating its young. Since it is not based in real integrity, Pluto will have it for lunch.

We ask you to use your heart as the filter and not the mind. The heart flows with ‘all that is’ and knows that you are connected to divinity. The mind creates obstacles to evolution and ascension by placing up protective barriers between you as an individual and the ‘all that is’. The mind creates duality, whereas the heart creates connectedness.

I've read it a few times and it's amazing how you are able to explain how the personalities of the planets influence what's going on. I posted last week that I though default of the country's debt might be the only way to force real change (even it gets really bad before it gets better), but it doesn't seem we're headed in that direction.

Now that a 'deal' has been made which seems to keep the status quo in place, what is your take?

They've clearly shown the world how defunct they are - empty. It was clearly shown to me yest. when I did the chart for the TParty. It's sick and heavily deluded.

We can continue to TRY to put up a front. If the powers that be stay in control, we're in lots of trouble. We keep waiting for a recovery and haven't realized that it does NOT have to happen just because we'd like it to. Astrologically speaking, with Pluto yet to approach our Sun (2015) and then the PLUTO RETURN in about 13 years, it doesn't look good.

On the other hand, if the progressives get radical and do another "stop the govt" day like we did back in 71, we have a chance. The tp sux but they organize. That's what we have to do.

Do not sleep on this, I told you, the 8th and 9th of this month is when merde hits fanneth.

We're going to hit bottom, that's for sure, how well we rebound is all new territory. We have to lead the way to recreate.

When I get brave enough, I'll post the disgusting translation of the TP chart.

I have a feeling that at the last minute the deal will not get done. And I have to be honest, I think we NEED to hit bottom so that there will be a REASON to restructure, and do it with integrity and in ways in which we honor the earth and each other. We can't keep putting a band aid on an erupting volcano and expect it hold.

I feel like if they do go through with this "deal", they are only delaying the inevitable. And on another note, I am finding it extremely difficult to even take this so called "deal" seriously. And the reason for that is because they are not addressing what needs to addressed. We need the wealthiest people in this country to pay their fair share. We need to raise taxes, not reduce the budgets of federal programs that are barely helping individuals get by in the worst economy since the great depression. It's so bazaar to me that they would EVEN consider doing that and not consider raising taxes. So without that on the table, the deal seems useless to me. And I think the most important thing we need to do is to stop killing each other and end the wars. How many BILLIONS do we spend EACH MONTH on killing other human beings?? We just need to do the right thing. Astrologically, It seems we're getting all the support we need in order to create a new world. And I do feel like light has indeed already won. And what will happen is the crumbling of the old. Interestingly enough, the 5th night of the Mayan calendar is August 18th and it is "destruction". There's a lot going on in August, some very intense energies....it's important to try not to engage in the drama and just observe. Easier said than done, I know! lol.

So Rick, I'm curious about August 8th and 9th. I know you don't make predictions, but with Pluto and Uranus and then Mars entering the picture, what types of things could happen? I know the implications could be huge or you wouldn't keep emphasizing the importance of those two dates.

53. Six of the Wisconsin recall elections are on August 9.

This scares me. That is not a good day for these elections.

I have been worried about the safety of our President and Vice-President for some time. If they are incapacitated or killed, Boehner could stage a coup. I would not put anything past these people. I have worried about this a lot. I have kept it to myself, for fear of sounding irrational. Yet, I have black Democratic friends who always worry about Obama's safety. They fully expect some racist to try to kill him.

I am worried about the FAA shutdown, too. That has not been resolved. Two of my children will be flying during this time. I wish they would not do that.

I am not reassured by any of the talk of rebuilding. We will all suffer before any rebuilding can begin. As usual, the weakest among us will suffer the most.

I must try to get more sleep. This is causing insomnia for me.

on the 22nd, is when Mars will finish it's non-retrograde motion over the tsquare making it's final square to Saturn. It will symbol lot of frustration; the military budget will be targeted, but it will be nothing as potent as last Mon and Tues when Mars hit

So mars will light up saturn at that time... so what's the influence to watch for? I know I have been working my pluto all month (my own 'undoing' and habits coming under scrutiny and demanding action) so what's the energy to deal with saturn and mars?

70. Mars/Saturn

is quite different, and very complex. First of all, it stands for frustration. It is the energy that is bringing Perry to the surface because his Moon/Saturn in Virgo rising says it all - and he was former military. So if we all straighten up and fly right, we'll be acceptable in his redneck eyes.

So, nationwide it is a direct challenge against Saturn (Tparty) to act against them, stand up, and the pressure is on Obama to quit being such a woos and treating all of this like College Debate club.

It is a challenge to each of us to more DISCIPLINED (Saturn) and hard-working. This is a no-mercy combo, Mars and Saturn say, if you haven't got what you want then you need to get off of your butt. It will be very brief and mainly stands out because it's the tail end of the overall grand cross transit since the 8th.

Since we are both Capricorns, we will be stirred to action, Saturn is always about what place do you want in the sun. Stop following the rules and assert yourself. Knee pain just started for me after 59 years bc my Saturn return is in a week. Watch for problems with the teeth too.

Overall, it's a great time to dig down, stop the whining, and find our strength.

that covered a chip on one of my front teeth. That sucker, perilously attached as it was, lasted about 20 years...but crapped out now. Innnnteresting timing.

And yeah, I called my dentist and scheduled an appointment immediately. ;)
