Anyone have a guess what I witnessed in my home last week?

I was on the phone getting a consultation from an attorney when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a figure of a woman passing from my dining area into the hallway which was approximately five feet distance. I would say she was about 5'6" and she was wearing a shroud-like garment which partially covered her head although I could see the profile of her face. If it matters, she was also more solid looking than transparent. It was broad daylight out and I was alone in the house.

The figure didn't turn to look at me.

I let out a small scream (I think)....I was so stunned.

Goosebumps on top of goosebumps were all over my arms.

Was this a guardian angel, a ghost, or what?

I did have a rough time recently with the loss of my cat and I have been doing a lot of praying for some friends who are having a very rough time....lighting a candle everyday, etc.

My mother was only 5'2", so it wasn't her.

Any ideas?

Has anyone else ever had something like this happen?

1. Several years ago

I was in another city, in a hotel suite, with a friend to attend the college graduation of her son, her only child. Her husband had died suddenly about two years earlier. He had been a jazz pianist by profession, and was twenty years older than my friend, so while his passing was sudden and unexpected, he was 79 at the time.

It was a couple of hours before the graduation ceremony, and my friend was in the shower and I was listening to classical music (Albioni, to be specific) and doing embroidery. All of a sudden I got a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of a swarthy and good-looking man who rather looked like a pirate. It was just a glimpse, and even though it looked NOTHING like my friend's husband had in life, I knew it was him. When she came out of the shower I said, "Keith is here."

And for the next eight or so hours he kept on coming through to me. I found myself saying things that made my friend laugh and so, "Oh, that's EXACTLY what he would say." And during the day, once on a phone call to my husband, and later on a phone call to my son (who was the same age as the graduation son) I was absolutely compelled to say, "Keith says hello." I tried not to, but just had to.

It was was quite bizarre, but not in the least scary. And that first, brief glimpse, was the only sight of him I got. Everything else was just strong feelings, and blurting out things.

2. Look for cold areas in your house particularly the area

you saw her in. You may have a spirit there.

Have you been there long? Could be you were a shock to her too!

This type of reading has never been my "thing," but I am getting a strong feeling that her visit is linked to your kitty's passing. I dunno why, but as I saw your story it came into my mind that she was looking for that same missing kitty...

I have talked on here before about watching a ghost walk through a locked sun porch when we were in a guest house over along the Mississippi. It sure did give me a start, and I know exactly what you mean about goosebumps galore.

You may want to consider, also, that this was a pretty strong indicator that physical death is not the end that we think it is. After the prayers and sadness of losing your kitty, I have to wonder if this was your guides' way of sending you comfort.

6. I've been here since '97 and we did have two strange occurrences

When we first moved in.
My daughter and I were downstairs in the family room and above that is the master bedroom. Well, we were sitting watching TV and heard furniture being moved/dragged over the hardwood floor above us.

We looked at each other both of us asking each other if we heard it. Neither of us wanted to go upstairs to check and we just laughed at ourselves for not wanting to check it out. It turned out that nothing was out of place....just a mystery.
We heard the same thing one more time soon after that, and then nothing further.

Then about two years ago I was going to go on a ghost hunt and had purchased a digital recorder. I was checking out how it operated and asked a practice, "Is anybody here?", to which you can hear a whispered, "yeah". It sounds like a woman. The voice comes before I even manage an exhale, so it isn't me!

I know that death is not the end, and if this is a way for my spirit guides to remind me...consider me reminded.

I love reading all the stories being shared. Gives me shivers all over again!

5. Hi Digit! The first time I ever saw someone from the other side who spoke, it was very much

like what SheilaT said. But when my husband and I moved into this house a couple of years ago, a ghost walked right through the middle of our queen size bed on his way out of the house. It was the second night we spent the night here. Woo!! Scared me, because I had been asleep, and just woke up real fast to see him approach the bed and walk through it.

Can I ask if you were still in the bed when the man walked through it?

Has anything happened since?

This figure was probably 20 feet from me. I was at the other end of the kitchen on the phone and it was on the other side of the dining room.

With your experience, the ghost sounds like he was almost on top of you! That's a little close for comfort!

11. Hi again. Yes, I was in the bed when the man walked through it.

He looked pretty "solid", as you described. He had white hair, he was short, not overweight, not skinny, just average, and he was very determined acting. He did not look at me, either. As I woke up and saw him approach, I reacted by sitting up really quickly, and he walked about 2 feet away from my feet.... very close.

12. Wow, I rolled my eyes when I read that.

As in an OMG eye roll.

It just seems such a vulnerable position to be in and you can't move anywhere quickly since you are not on your feet...(plus being in jammies or whatever). Yep, that was a VERY close encounter!

I would like to have the experience again, but not when I am in my bed or in the bathroom!

8. Funny you should mention it. On the same day but in the evening when it was

near dark, I went out on the deck to grab something and from the corner of my eyes, saw something by a large tree roughly 15-20 feet from our house. It was a female form loosely cloaked head to toe in a full greyish white semi-transparent overall coloring. Just one tone all over. Don't ask how I know it was female but I just knew that. Adult woman. Not young. Actually did not see a face just a form. Similar size or maybe a little bigger. She just moved as if to sway to look at me. I stood there and tried to see it better but actually felt a little creeped out so left to go inside. I too have a sick cat. Perhaps we have a cat guardian.

9. I hope your little friend feels better soon

Whether it is a guardian for you at a time of great stress over your feline companion or a guardian over animals when they are sick; I hope it made you feel better after the creeped out feelings subsided.

Yes, the description sounds similar. The image is burned into my brain now and it does not scare me, at least I say that NOW! If she walks through my bed while I am in it, all bets are off! lol

10. "Taken aback" would have been more accurate. It has been years since I have seen a spirit. So I was

taken by surprise.
Kitty is at stage four renal failure. We are just trying to make him comfortable and do the best we can. We will see.....

I had no idea it was so serious. I will say a little prayer for him...and for you, too.

As for the "ghost" or whatever it was, you could say I was stunned and just stared in disbelief of what I was seeing. The term "taken aback" would also work.

16. Hi Digit, a few years ago we were living in Kansas

and there were all kinds of things that were happening in the house we were living in. One morning, I sat straight up in bed at 6am from a sound sleep and watched a young boy dressed in light blue boxers and a white t-shirt walk across our bedroom and walk right through the door (it was closed). A couple of weeks later I got a phone call from an old friend I hadn't seen in a few years. She was calling me to tell me that her son had been killed in a car accident a couple of months earlier. When she got to the hospital to see him (he had passed at the scene) she found him in only his boxers (light blue) and white t-shirt. The EMT's had cut his clothing off of him. He was 10 years old. I'll never forget it.

Did you mention your experience to your friend?

I was wondering if I would or COULD mention it if it was my own friend.
I guess it would depend on if I felt she could handle it.

You know though, it is comforting to know that there is more to life than the physical body and you reminded me of that. When things are going poopey, keep reminding yourself that this is only temporary. Is that a motto or what?

Your story is sad and uplifting at the same time.
Thanks for sharing since I just discovered a old friend from high school passed, and I needed a reminder. Classmates.com didn't even say what happened; only that a memorial service had been held.

18. I did mention it to my friend.

I knew she would be open to it. I also knew that I would not have seen him if I wasn't supposed to share it with her. And yes, it was heartbreaking but I do think it gave her a small measure of comfort knowing that he still lives on, just not here.
