Strange canals seen on Google Earth
Okay, I heard this guy on Coast to Coast

http://www.ancientcanalbuilders.com/

He was looking at Civil War battlefields on Google Earth and discovered a HUGE series of symmetrical canals all over the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, from Lousianna up to Canada. I have to say that I have looked at these on Google Earth and yup one can tell that these are elaborate, ancient, and man made. Nothing in our known history can explain these things. He gives a list of places to go to look at them, but I just did a screen shot of the area just south of a runway at Kennedy Airport in NYC. So weird, the runway ends, and then there is this uninhabited area that has rectangular like man made looking canals. But there are so many places with this stuff. Strange!! I almost posted this in Science.

What do you guys think? This is not at all the most impressive of these things, but is easy to find because of the airport. The canals that are obviously man made are in the left middle. If I had zoomed in closer you could see the symmetry of these better. If I posted this in Science I would probably do more screen shots.

If you like looking at Google Earth you will have fun following the links on the web page. I couldn't go directly from the page but just did searches.........try looking west of Cocoa Beach, Florida. Tons of stuff like this in New Jersey too. Just too swampy to have been developed I guess.

1. Why do you consider them canals?
I thought they were just streams.

15. Well they were small
They were in the left middle but weren't exactly prominent. I've been looking at these so long that they are too easy for me to spot.

16. I see straight lines in the first photo
they aren't as big as the streams, but they're there.

8. Here is the speculation of the guy that discovered them
"Ancient Cities on our Coasts ..................... There are many underwater harbors, channels and canals in Florida and Louisiana, as well as other areas, that are covered with vestiges and remnants of a very sophisticated, enormously large aquatic based culture or civilization that existed BEFORE current sea level rose an average of 5 feet."

But I really don't know. According to him there isn't much interest in the archeological community, which seems nuts.

But you gotta wonder if the Atlantean civilization wasn't worldwide. I find it truly interesting that one lone person looking at Google maps found all this stuff, and nobody ever knew about it.

I would love to hear other people's takes on this.

12. I'm with you....
It's FASCINATING, and interesting that the archeological community hasn't shown much interest? Have you found where anyone has even commented on it?

I have no thoughts but am very curious as well.

:hi:

17. yeah, this is just a curious and observant guy
who had an interest in Civil War battlefields. Ancient peoples of the Americas really isn't his thing. But now that he discovered all this, he feels a bit of responsibility and "ownership" of the notion. I got the feeling he would love to turn this all over to someone but he has been unable to find credentialed people who felt invested in it. Some may have shown a passing interest. It has been awhile since I heard the interview so I may not be remembering the details (surprise surprise).

Somebody needs to put together a National Geographic special or something (???)

I am totally interested in this but I can't really help him.

9. south of JFK (zoomed in)
Once I decided we didn't need the runway in it I zoomed a bit closer so you could see the "canals".

10. Could they be formed by the
Army Corps of Engineers? That would be my first guess as they do build earthworks, canals, etc. Does the site say they have removed that possibility?

11. there would be no reason for that and
They don't operate in all those areas. I might think the same thing if they were all at the mouth of the Mississippi.

I should have put the ones on Oak Island, Nova Scotia in here. Do a Google maps search of Oak Island and you can see the exact same thing there. No Army Corps of Engineers there (I hope, LOL)
