My Mother-in-law passed away on the 14th of August. G, my sister-in-law, who's visiting us, nursed her for the past year. G had many interesting things to share about the transition phase that she hadn't previously. She knew when it was over, Mom, would be all right on the other side. But still, for the past month, she's been calling to her, "Mom, please visit me." My husband has had 2 visits from Mom, a day before she passed and a few days after we returned from the funeral - but nothing like this. G gave me permission to share these photos with you all, just in case anyone has a rational explanation and just to share with those of like-minds :)
Last week, G got a delivery of flowers from a Marine family. I mention the kind of family because the tulips delivered were specifically scarlet and gold, Marine colors, to honor my MIL and late FIL service to the Corps. The card read something like, "After it's now finished, these flowers are just for you." She put the flowers in a vase and forgot about them. The next day, about mid-morning, she got out of bed and walked into the main room and noticed one of the tulips was just glowing almost a hot white. She couldn't believe her eyes and observed it for a while. She thought the sun was casting a ray on it, but the whole room was diffused and she couldn't find a light source. She says it seemed as though someone just stuck a light bulb in it. She grabbed her cell phone and snapped the first picture, then moved around the vase slightly and snapped 2 more.
Still, the light was coming from that one flower and casting its light on only its immediate neighbors. I asked G if the cell has a flash, it's an iPhone and has no flash, she says, and it captured the flower exactly as she saw it.
Here is the bouquet opened up. I may be wrong but I think she says
the flower is the one in the first row, 2nd from left. She took this one with a regular digital camera.
