Gratitude thread for Thanksgiving!
I'll start........Rules are just one thing per post or people would write endless paragraphs, I imagine.

This year I am grateful for my mother in law who is hosting our Thanksgiving dinner at her retirement home, in the group dining room. (I am recovering from having plates and screws taken out of my ankle). Since I don't give gratitude for my mother in law all that much, I thought I would take this opportunity!

5. Hear! Hear for mothers-in-law.
Though mine passed this past summer, she left us a lasting legacy that brought my husband's whole family together and me in truly great communion with my sisters-in-law. I've got angel bumps just thinking about how so much dissolved and got resolved. I can just hear her now saying, when good things happen because of sad things, Well, I would've gotten sick sooner. Really, I'm serious, she would have said that - it used to stun us every time and then we'd burst out in uproarious laughter. I miss her wit and owe her everlasting gratitude! What a gal.

Thanks, Celebration for this thread

7. I'm sorry about your mother in law passing............
This certainly was a wonderful tribute.

My mother in law also helped us with a ton of babysitting when the kids were little.

Or maybe that should be 'failed' miserably, as I am half convinced it was a dog and pony show for the Democrats to demonstrate how obstructionist the Republicans are being.

20. I hear ya!
So good that Obama promised to veto anything that rolled back the automatic cuts too.

There will be a "comprimise" eventually though, I feel, and we may not like it. But it will be after the election.

18. Can't say I'm familiar with the first 2 lines of that
it could be that I heard this somewhere, or someone said this prayer when I was a kid, or I read it. However it happened, those last 2 lines stood out for me & I've remembered them ever since. :)

Thanks for posting the whole thing!

19. LOL, it reminds me
Of the time my oldest daughter was asked to do a blessing before a meal. She was in high school at the time, and sort of went into a panic, not knowing what to say. So she BURST into SONG with something she had learned a decade prior.

The Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and and the moon and the apple seed
The Lord is good to me!!

Okay, her friends were literally in tears laughing at this, and it includes the fundamentalist Christian, who to this day has not let her forget this incident.

PS--What makes in funnier is that this daughter is pretty shy and will do anything to not call attention to herself. A couple of times in her life she has done so in a spectacular way, unintentionally.

Edited on Thu Nov-24-11 07:29 PM by Missy Vixen
This year has been full of them.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at ASAH. When we sit down (about an hour now, I'm LATE,) to eat, I will be thinking of all of you, and how much of yourselves you've shared with me and with each other. I am grateful for you.

31. I'm so grateful both my spiritual children
came for Thanksgiving. It was so beautiful to be around them for 3 whole days! Although they are in their late 20s, soon to be in their 30s, they reverted to their childhood selves! Fart jokes abounded, shrieks of laughter, constant activity and true sweet love all around. It was beautiful It will fill my heart for a very long time.

Nothing better than a loving family. I am so glad you had the opportunity to share the holiday with your children.

I'm getting ready to spend Christmas with two of my adult children that I don't see often. Can't wait!
