Progressions are symbolic and the progression of a planet through a house will last for years. Mars transits the entire zodiac, however, once every two years.
Whether it's progression or transit, Mars will *energize* the sector it inhabits. This could bring, among many possibilities, transformative events (or possibly conflict) involving joint finances- (are you married or partnered in some way?)-or possibly just more sex.
I think your original question was what should you not do at this time. Are you concerned about this transit (or progression)? Keep in mind that Mars, Saturn, and Pluto are always somewhere in your chart aspecting your natal planets. You have lived through this exact transit many times and are still in fine shape to ask about it. Personally, I would not do anything differently- but we all see these things differently. :)
Here are two excellent books to help understand transits and the aspects they make to your natal planets: "Planets in Transit" by Robert Hand "Planets in Aspect" by Robert Pelletier
