upcoming mutable grand square
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 11:32 AM by sofedup
I was just checking my husband's lunar return for April and realized there will be a grand cross on April 11. This formation involves an opposition of Pluto/Mars at 26 and 28 Sagittarius/Gemini which crosses an opposition of Moon (24 Virgo) and Mercury (23 Pisces). This could be a very potent formation. The Moon will conjunct the March lunar eclipse point (24 Virgo) and the other three planets all aspect it. And of course a Pluto/Mars opposition (transformation/action) carries a great deal of dynamic potential.

People with planetary and other sensitive placements from 22-29 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces will feel this the most. Though the grand square (4 planets) will be a one-day event the Pluto/ Mars opposition is already within orb.

My husband experienced direct planetary hits from both of last month's eclipses and out of the blue he learned of a teaching job opening in a town where we'd like to live. I consider the grand square a strong positive in his lunar return in spite of the tension- it could signal the change we need. Is anyone else feeling the Pluto/ Mars opposition?

Edited to add: Although the grand square will last only one day due to the Moon's swift motion, there will be at least three days with a t-square formation (Pluto/Mars opposition squared by Mercury). The T-square is also an emphatic astro statement- a bit less stable than the grand square.

1. Interesting but need more info
My moon is at 29 degrees Sag so it looks like I will be affected. (I was just affected by the recent eclipses too) Do you know of any source I could check for the likely effects of the square?
Thanks!

2. the best resource...
Edited on Mon Apr-03-06 02:27 PM by sofedup
...for transit info is a book, Robert Hand's "Planets in Transit". Both www.astro.com and www.stariq.com will give you descriptions of transits. StarIQ will email you with descriptions of your transits when they are exact. You can be sure of accessing all transits on Astro.com only on Thursdays so you could miss something.

If you are interested in learning more astro basics Robert Hand has a book called "Horoscope Symbols" that is very good. You can also learn a lot by googling.

Edited to add: neither website mentioned above sends spam so it is not a problem to give an email addy- they both have my primary.

5. On my solar return coming up,
I have the Pluto-Mars opposition from the fourth to the tenth houses. Already I have felt a huge impact from this as I have moved my office, which is a big deal for me.
Natally, I have Mercury and Jupiter in square at 22 mutable, so I expect this to have an impact on my writing and communications. It has already.

7. that office moves sounds like a big deal...
... I hope it's a good thing for you. Is the move related to Pluto's transit of your Merc/Jup square? Are the affairs of the house with Scorpio on the cusp feeling the opposition also?

PS I do solar returns for birthday presents and they've *all* been so challenging this year!

22. It is a huge deal, and also good.
It's like moving out of my cave into a more central place in the house. It has to do with Pluto's transit of Merc-Jup square in that I am moving out of a long period of doing research and holing up in isolation. Scorpio is on my 4th house cusp, so you can bet this is a major move in my home and with my family. My teen daughter is moving into the big room that was my office. My mom is moving in to her old room.

This is all good, it's just such a surprise. I never expected to give up that big corner office/cave, but it seems perfect now, although unsettling. It's forcing me to reformat, reconsider, reprioitize everything. I have to consolidate into a smaller space. I was wasting the bigger space before. It forces me to be more focused and organized, which is another effect on my Merc-Jup square. My Jupiter is also conjunct my moon, so this all involves home, mother, profession.

I am excited about the changes. I feel as if a new phase of my life is commencing after years of going through a difficult initiation.

9. My father was in a freak car accident today.
His Pisces sun is at 21 degrees (I think). Plus, my mother says he's been a jerk all week, ever since the eclipse. I hope he makes it through the 11th alright.

I'm a Taurus, so I don't know to what degree this formation will affect me--don't think I have any planets that are going to get tweaked too badly--however, yesterday SUCKED. My health is still improving, (thank goodness) but I now understand that my life will require a radical overhaul in order for me to keep it on that track. I was hoping to be able to effect a less radical overhaul over a longer period of time, but I realize now that I. cannot. stay. here and thrive. Just...no. It's also arguably not physically safe for me to be in my present domicile anymore. So more rapid change will be necessary. And since the OP asked if anyone else was feeling the Mars-Pluto opposition--yes, I'm really feeling the cosmic pressure to change at the moment (I have a nasty-looking Sun opposition Pluto coming up in my personal astrological forecast for this Thursday). I would LOVE it if April 11th provided me with the opportunity to push through a big step in my life-improvement (or, at this point, life salvage) process. Even if the energy that day provides is chaotic. I figure that it couldn't be more chaotic than I could handle, really--because there aren't too many places in my life that have been more stressful than the one I'm in right now.

I hope your father is OK. These tense astro formations do tend to work this way- we either feel great pressure to change, as you do, or events force it, usually both. Good luck with finding a new place to live.

If your Sun is in Taurus the fixed sign transits of this year (Neptune, Saturn especially) could be what you're feeling. What degree is your Sun?

I noticed you had a different thread about reading your horoscope. Do you read the scope for your rising sign? Unless otherwise stated, horoscopes are written for the ascendant sign and predictions are determined by the transit of planets through the houses.

PS I really enjoy the info you post about candles. I am going to try burning some.

12. Hee. Yes, I read the 'scopes for my rising sign, too.
From the Scorpio forecast at FreeWillAstrology this week:

"Your power animal is the Hawaiian fish known as the humuhumunukunukuapuaa. It has two spines, and that'll be a good symbol for you in the coming days: You'll need to have a powerful backbone as you weather challenges to your integrity and authority. The humuhumunukunukuapuaa is also able to wedge itself into tight spaces to seek temporary refuge from its adversaries. That has a metaphorical resemblance to a skill I hope you'll cultivate. Finally, the humuhumunukunukuapuaa looks like a pig and makes pig-like grunts. You'll benefit from having a similar ability to confound people about what kind of animal you are. Having multiple identities will keep you strong."

Snerk. Multiple identities.

Since you asked, my natal Sun is at 23 degrees, which I've always been told is...not such a great placement for one's Sun. And yeah, what I'm going through at the moment definitely feels like Saturnine action--which was what I suspected anyway, even if I couldn't confirm it.

13. 23 degrees of the fixed signs...
...aren't seeing major action yet, but maybe you are one of those supersensitive types who feels things sooner? Did someone tell you 23 Taurus is not a great degree for one's Sun? If so, did they explain why?

As for explaining the need to read the ascendant sign of horoscopes; maybe you've noticed I'm having a struggle finding a way to communicate about things astro on this board. I hope I haven't seemed to "talk down" to anyone- I didn't mean to.

14. I do have, as they say, a delicate system.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 04:47 AM by BlueIris
And my roommates and two family members have planetary placements that in my amateur's estimation are getting smacked around by this formation. So, I guess I feel more pressure in part because I'm sensitive and in part because my roommates, family and one friend have been majorly stressed this week. My environment is turbulent right now, and it's rubbing off on me a little.

As for the 23 degrees of Taurus, I was told that planets, particularly a natal Sun, at 22-25 degrees strongly indicated affliction, addiction and oppression in life. Particularly in water signs, but in some earth signs, too. Is that...not true? I've read that some so-called "old fashioned" astrologers consider any planet at 22-25 degrees of Leo in a natal chart to be a strong indication of an addict, especially if it is the Sun, Moon or Mars.

15. hmmm.......
Possibly it is closeness to certain fixed stars that is considered the affliction at those degrees mentioned. If you are interested in knowing which fixed stars actually influence your own natal chart go here: www.zyntara.com. Bernadette Brady will email a free star parans report that delineates the stars active in your life.

Also Mansions of the Moon are used to determine critical degrees- I have no idea how those work. That will be something interesting to research when I have time.

I was about to post when I remembered a book, "Encyclopedia of Astrology" by Nicholas Devore. It does list 25 Leo as a degree of addiction- but it doesn't say why. Interesting.

17. That freaked me out
Why?

Because I have just been diagnosed with bone spurs in my neck. Big ones growing into my esophagus. Now the fact I am 40 years old on medical assistance is scary as hell here.
I can't afford to pay for treatment. And Medical assistance don't pay for much.. I am hoping to be a teaching case,
Because I will need an expert orthopedic surgeon,I mean a really trained top-of-the-line -expert.
Now if these are benign bone spurs it's scary enough to have to go through such a delicate operation where so much shit can fuck up..If they are not benign bone spurs I will be in deep shit.

I have an appointment.

Lets hope it's benign and that I am chosen as a teaching case.

I could use another spine right now.
Also I am dissociative/PSTD. It was caused by trauma ..So,I already got "multiple identities"..LOL.
And I can hide from adversaries damn well I learned that skill growing up around my tyrant father and a town full of bullies.
I have the skills Mentioned.. lets see if they save my ass this time.

All the houses you mentioned: Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius, Jupiter......

This is a free horoscope for my birthdate, place and time from Astrodienst AG 2000:

Sun in Virgo, Moon in Gemini * Ascendant in Sagittarius, Jupiter in the Seventh House * Moon in the Sixth House * Saturn in the Sixth House * Sun in the Eighth House * Venus in the Eighth House

Forgot to say Thanks for any help....perhaps, one day, I will understand the stars, more than just reading my horoscope in the newspaper.

Even though you have Sun, Moon, and rising in the Mutable signs mentioned you did not give us their degrees, so- when in doubt, relax (they may not be aspected unless they are approx. 22-29 degrees). Even if they are aspected now this particular aspect is not long lasting (one day grand square, approx. 4 days T-square with Merc, several days Pluto/Mars opp.) but for people with planets at 24 Virgo/Pisces it could be significant because of the March lunar eclipse. It can also be a tense time for Scorpio because Pluto and Mars (in opposition) are ruler and co-ruler of Scorpio.

Unless your Sun, Moon, and rising are in the last five degrees of these signs, you have already lived through some powerful life-changing transits of Pluto. This mutable square formation, though temporarily tense, is far less intense and less important than those transits.

You have probably read undergroundpanther's post about his medical concerns. When a person is made aware of something that important there will always be *multiple* indications in the natal chart- always. Formations such as the grand square (especially since it involves the Moon and Mercury)are generally about timing. My original post about my husband's applying for a new job is much more typical- several days of unusual activity and tension that could bring about change.

I can't say strongly enough- relax (and I will watch what I post and how I post it in the future). I also have Virgo Sun/ Gemini Moon and we are being transformed by Pluto- like it or not. I'm getting better at going with the cosmic flow- how are you?

PS I hope everyone sees OjaiPerson's follow-up. Challenging transits can be rewarding!

Nothing exactly dynamic happened to me yesterday--at least not externally. Yesterday morning and afternoon featured a lot of intellectual and emotional revelations, though.
