First time posting here - advice appreciated.
I has a past life reading recently. I was told that in a past life, I was possibly a mystic or spiritual leader - may have been a transient and wandered from place to place. Could explain why I have a hard time in the here and now, focusing on mundane activities.

I was born on May 21, 1965 at 7:12 am EST. I think of myself as a creative person but have difficulty channeling my creativity into a constructive form; sometimes I manage but then go off course. I also have a logical side and my career, what I do every day requires attention to detail (research). Sometimes I hate it though and made the comment the other day that I want a job that requires no paperwork. So I would say I am conflicted at times and can suffer from lack of direction. After my past life reading, these things seem to make more sense.

I guess my question is this - how do I become more aware of these tendencies within myself and how do I change them, or better yet - make them work for me? I keep feeling I haven't yet done what I'm supposed to do in this life.

1. If you don't want a job that involves paperwork or a lot of it
find something working outdoors. I have a dear friend who is a forest ranger. Although there is paper work (government) she always told me that the best jobs were the ones you could do outdoors because there was that freedom of contstraint from the cubicle.

I did a certain amount of it myself as either an interpretive guide or campground host, although I wouldn't recommend those jobs for someone that didn't have another source of income because they pay poorly.

However, there is that being in communication with nature that should stimulate your creative juices. You get used to all kinds of weather because you learn how to dress for it. Also, since many of the jobs are seasonal, many of the workers go from job to job in different states in different seasons. That should satisfy the nomad in you.

These are just suggestions to point you in a direction that you might want to research. Best of luck in discovering your path in this life.

2. Thanks for your insight Cleita.
A drawback of your attractive suggestion is that I have kids I must support. My life requires a good income and stability, so it's doubtful I can adapt my life as you suggest, at least not until they are grown. This has all got me thinking a lot though, about what I can do within the confines of my responsibilities and then after they ease a bit. I did spend a great deal of time outdoors as a child. :hi:

3. Apply for a government job in one of the agencies that are

outdoors oriented. There is the Forest Service, Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Bureau of Land Management, the one that builds and manages dams, the Army Corp of Engineers. These jobs come with security and benefits. You may have to start in an office somewhere, but you then can move around careerwise once you are in. If I were younger this is what I would prefer to do. Do look into it and you may be surprised to find something that suits you.

4. Welcome, sparosnare....
As someone who had not done what I felt I was "supposed" to be doing in this life until I had my babies to raise (this fulfilled a huge part of my "mission" in this life, I believe) I tend to feel that whatever we are doing at present IS the path, and right now, you are getting information prodding you into new directions or at leastinto new ways of thinking.

Having kids does give boundaries for what you can do IMO, so take it from there. Keep your resesarch job with its security and pay, while, if you can manage the free time - explore other interests and talents in hobbies or classes in things that attract you.

One of my greatest lessons that I learned was that progress, or personal evolution, takes place most of the time at a very slow pace - taking little baby steps - although some life events usher in huge leaps of growth. Learning to be patient, while remaining open to clues and guidelines from your own psyche (or others') is what has helped me along to a point where now, with my children both out of the house, I feel satisfied with my life and what I have become. Certainly not something glamorous or dramatic.....just more ME, and more authentically me. This feels right.

BTW - I am deeply into the final phase of my belated University studies, so I am not resting on my laurels of motherhood.....or of sheer survival into middle age! :-)

All the best to you on your path,

DemEx

7. It's funny -
when my children were younger I didn't think about much else but taking care of them. Now that they're older though and not as dependent on me, I have found I am thinking more of myself and MY life.
Going back to school is a definite possibility and I fully expect at some point I will go in a completely new direction. I have had events in my life that have forced me to grow and find strength I never knew I had; instead of being scary, change is exciting to me.

Thanks for sharing your personal story with me DemEx.

6. The fact that you have come to this forum and are asking
questions about increasing awareness indicates that you ARE becoming more aware that life isn't just about what you do to earn a living. A lot of us work at jobs that are not what we would consider ideal, but we are stretching ourselves in other ways by exploring our creativity and our spirituality. I think DemExpat is right. Get involved in things like yoga, meditation, art classes or whatever you feel drawn to. Visit a metaphysical bookstore and either talk with the people there or just browe and see what strikes your fancy. We all start our journeys at different places, but come together to form a collective of kindred spirits focused on making our planet a better home, beaming more light to the world and, most importantly, creating peace on earth.

I first began my education many, many years ago by reading about the life of Edgar Cayce. The book just called to me from the library shelves. This forum is a great place to get ideas, and if you want recommendations for reading material or websites to visit, let us know. We can probably come up with a couple thousand. I love reading the messages from Matthew which you might have seen at this forum. The website is: http://www.matthewbooks.com/mattsmessage.htm

Blessings to you in your quest.

9. I've been reading posts in this forum for awhile -
didn't feel I have much to contribute - some of you guys are so knowledgeable. I am definitely going to explore different areas and try to expand my own little world. I will check out your recommendations and then if you don't mind may pick your brain for more.

Thank you for being so helpful! :hi:

12. Welcome to this forum. We all started as spiritual infants, so
don't feel embarassed about your stage of development. I'm a spiritual adolescent, myself, although I'm 56 yrs. old. All of the souls here are very happy to help others along. In fact, we might tend to get a bit overwhelming at times. Take it at your own pace, and if you don't "get" something, come back to it later.

15. Thank you.
I am an infant - definitely. Trying to find my way and never been happy with organized religion. Too many questions (from me) and not enough answers (from them). The basic philosophical questions of "who am I" and "why am I here".....that's where I'm starting. :hi:

10. I would suggest meditation.
That is helpful with any number of areas in life. And I know it's hard to find the time, but maybe get up 15 minutes earlier in the morning. It is a good way to start the day, and you would go to work more relaxed, and maybe you would be more satisfied with it.

I am a past life regressionist...did you have a regression, or just a reading?

13. I did not have a regression, just a reading.
I would like to try regression though because I feel there may be something there to discover. I have dabbled in self-hypnosis recently and quite enjoy it - I seem to be receptive to it and like how I feel afterwards. :hi:

17. Self-hypnosis is great...
One of my favorite things to do is a chakra balance and aura-strengthening self-hynosis. I always feel great after I do that.

As for regression, there is lots to discover...layer after layer, lifetime after lifetime. It is an exciting voyage to self-understanding, and one I highly reccommend!

11. A couple of things...
...from your natal chart.

"Lack of direction" regarding work? Or are you, perhaps, pulled in too many directions by your fertile mind? With Sun, Moon, and rising as well as Jupiter, Venus, and North Node in Air signs, and seven planets in Mutable signs, learning and exploring and expressing ideas is easy but following through on these ideas, especially with strong Gemini, is difficult. Unless you have job that might allow an assistant to help with the paperwork, etc. then you will need to devise "systems" that make it easier for you to stay organized and follow through. Your Virgo stellium opposes Saturn in Pisces. This means that two factors that might have helped keep you on task and enjoying work (Virgo energy and Saturn) are less available due to the diffusing influence of Pisces.

You have a strong 12th house, Neptune, Pisces theme in your chart. These elements pull you away from the workaday world and toward something more spiritual and contemplative. You are, possibly, someone who could function in a spiritual community- just not one with vows of silence!

Your Midheaven is quintiled by Mercury. This indicates that you have talent regarding the use of communication in your career. Have you considered a career that would involve communicating spiritual ideas through publishing? Just a thought.

14. Interesting -
I am pulled in many directions a lot of times; sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the ideas in my head and then can't seem to focus on any one. Your statement about having someone to help with paperwork....that is so correct, and I brought this up as an option to my employer. I have mayde it very clear to him how much I dislike that part of my job.
I don't know what a lot of what you've said means.....what does "seven planets in Mutable signs" mean? Does having air signs mean I'm an airhead (lol) - I have been accused of that before. ;-)
I'm not sure about writing; it seems scary to me...don't know how I'd even start. Something to consider though......

16. mutability and air
From Isabel Hickey's "Astrology, a Cosmic Science"

"The keyword for the Mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces is flexibility. There is a pliability and adaptability to circumstances..." Mutables are learners in this lifetime.

"The Air trinity (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)represents the mental plane and has a great deal to do with relationships. The Air signs are the knowledge gatherers who work through the intellect and intuition."

Of course those are *very* brief, simple descriptions. If you have more interest in this there is much info available on the internet. If I wanted to hire someone for a position that required creativity I would look for someone with a similar Air/Mutable mix.

I don't remember mentioning writing specifically (though maybe I did- I can't see my post)- Mercury represents communicating. I don't know what kind of research you do, but your chart does show that you have a talent for communicating that *could* be used in your career.
