Are there shrubbie supporters in the spirituality/astro world?
(long, sorry, but important q at the end)

I thought more enlightened people would not support this administration. I was wrong.

I've quit a spirituality/alt healing email group that I've been a member of for over a decade. Long story short, it was originally composed of women who were open to alternative spiritual beliefs, especially those more open to women. In the early days, the group formed a "sphere" that surrounded the planet. You could send light/healing/energy to this sphere, & also draw from it or direct its energy to someone or something. It was supposed to be used only for good purposes, to bring peace, love, & healing to the planet, groups of people, and individuals.

In the past year or so, the emails from the list have been few & far between. However, in the past 2 months, a certain individual, who was one of the charter members, who used to moan & groan about our patriarchal society & even participated in the WTO protest in Seattle, has posted a lot of shrubbie-supporting emails. She's even had negative things to say about those who don't support the admin, including peace activists. I figured that it was just her, & let those emails slide without comment, not wanting to muck up the list with political arguments.

Then she did it again, & this time, another person chimed in, about how she too was tired of all the "Bush-haters" & having to read their "crap." I posted a simple farewell message, including my reasons for leaving, saying that one day they would wake up & realize they had been greatly deceived, & unsubscribed from the list. Even though all of them had my email, not one of them sent me an email in response or for any other reason.

Until today. I get this racist pos email from the charter member, that stupid "when I go to Mexico, I want you to give me everything" bullshit that's going around. She sent it directly to my email. No "hi, hope you're doing well" or "we miss you," just this pos trash. So, I responded, maybe not in the nicest way (I did call her ignorant & racist, because she obviously believed this crap), but I'm stunned that she would go out of her way to bother me with this, knowing how I feel.

I'm now wondering: what if she was using the "healing sphere" to help support shrubbie & all his efforts WITHOUT TELLING THE REST OF THE GROUP? Even when the list was quiet, I often meditated on that, sent energy to it, believing it was being used for GOOD, not evil! I feel violated, especially when I think that my energy might have been used to support war & torture!

Has anyone else come in contact with something like this: shrubbie supporters in the metaphysical area?

Thanks for letting me vent. :)

1. If the intent of your energy was good, it cannot be used for evil.
In terms of karma, it is the intent that is very important.

Those people who have supported the Iraqi invasion, the deaths, torture, maiming of innocents will accrue negative karma, which they will have to face in this life or a future one. And I do believe America will have collective karma it will have to face in the future.

And yes, one can claim to be "spiritual" or religious" and be far from it. Just like all people with psychic gifts are not necessarily spiritual.

Everyone is at a different stage of soul evolution and growth; we cannot really assume anything until we check it out.

5. You said:
"And I do believe America will have collective karma it will have to face in the future."

I think we are facing it now. What we did in the past to the Indians and slaves and in later years to the underprivileged may be why we have had the Bush criminal family turning our country into a scrap heap.

9. Oh absolutely. We are always working off old karma and accruing new...
Many of us who are here now have issues around power, abuse and use of it.

And we are looking at all kinds of karma, collective, individual, family, etc etc.

2. no, I haven't
come across anything like that in the spiritual/ metaphysical arena. But somehow it doesn't surprise me. I have been feeling a gradual/now not so gradual takeover of conservative people and ideas. I often feel that I am being pushed out of my own life, in a way, by these conservative attitudes. And that there is an increasing lack of tolerance towards liberal lifestyle and values.
One thing that bothers me is that- though I don't have cable television, whenever I am at a friend's watching tv, I notice so many religious programs on. Also listening to the radio, there are even religious discussions on npr. I feel that gradually these religious shows are taking over the air waves.
But as far as what you describe, I'd feel betrayed and angry - and it is understandable that you say you are stunned. It would be difficult to know whether there were Shrub supporters there at the inception of the circle, or if there has been infiltration. I'm thinking that we dems have to be very strong in our beliefs/value systems during this difficult time period.

3. I am very sorry to hear this
I don't know any pro bush healers or metaphysicians. I know some who pay no attention to politics but they aren't the most practiced healers either. I think it's worth saying that some people don't get beyond a certain point, their ego's are too tied up in being important and they miss so much because of it. I am sorry that the group wasn't what you'd hoped for. It's disappointing to say the least. Just know that you have us and we'll support your endeavor to heal any and all planetary members.;)

4. I wouldn't feel too bad about it.
I believe that there are many, many people who hold on to the republican party, to 'conservatism', even the church as a crutch, a source of stability in their lives. Many times women stay in abusive marriages, even defend the abuser when things get out of control.

They seem to stay in these really bad situations because they believe that's as good as it will ever get. I believe people who do this need some form of structure in their lives, because they are filled with a lot of uncertainty and fear.

It's a clear case of the "Devil known" and I suspect women do this in large numbers because they need financial security. The thought of being poor always trumps any personal safety or happiness. It's cultural conditioning.

I would release these people, with love and understanding. There are probably many other really good groups around.

Re: Bush & the metaphysical realm: No. I have not come across one person who digs Bush. They all hate him with a passion.

6. Sending energy to Bush et al might even be a good thing
My reiki mentor is no admin fan, yet each week she tries to hold him in the light, that he may know the truth. When people find their true strength, they don't need to lie and fear-monger and tear others down just to build themselves up. I am in no way compassionate enough to hold any of them in the light yet, but I hope to be someday soon.

Imagine if Bush were to realize that talking to God is a two-way street. Imagine if he started to actually LISTEN, instead of just telling God what he wanted in his prayers. This whole thing could turn around in a matter of days...I wish more people would send him healing energy, that he may become who he really is underneath the fear and inadequacy

7. Whenever I catch myself hating him, I turn it around (lately)
I picture his heart opening up with a burst of brilliant white light which then envelopes him, allowing him to feel what he is doing.
I then mentally say, "Good overcomes evil, for the greatest good of all concerned".

I don't know if this is good enough, but it is a far cry from what I WAS thinking!

12. As far as I'm concerned, every little bit helps
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 04:11 PM by oxbow
and in the end, it's about you more than it is about Bush or anybody else. It's exercise for the soul to love your enemies. It strengthens and expands it in a way that makes you bigger than you were before. Really, it's not even up to us to love Bush, only to try. All we can do is to live our values and set our intentions from them. The rest is up to God.

8. FYI: Four levels of soul evolution (Jeff Green's model )
Wolve: This might help you understand things a bit better about the group of people you describe. I am reading Jeff Green's PLUTO:THE EVOLUTIONARY JOURNEY OF THE SOUL. (He is a karmic astrologer, and the book is about Pluto's placement in the natal chart. Pluto is considered a very karmic planet.)

The Green model has its origins in ancient India, and is a classification of soul evolutionary status. Green states that each individual will fall in one of the four categories and it is easily observable:

1. Dimly evolved or de-evolved state: 2-3% of the population is just evolving into human consciousness from other kingdoms (such as the animal state) or are in a de-evolved evolutionary condition due to prior life karmic causes. These people have a very dim sense of personal awareness, a basic sense of occupying time and space. These people will appear to be relatively stupefied.

2. Herd State: 75% of the human race occupies this condition, which is characterized by those whose identities are a mere extension of societal norms, beliefs, customs, and taboos. This condition in fact is the mainstream of society. It is society. These people do not seriously question what they are told to believe or think. If they should happen to question, it will be a consensus answer prescribed by society. (For example if astronomers say that astrology is bogus, then these people will say that astrology is bogus without giving it any independent thought.) Those who have spent a long time in this state develop the capacity to lead it, and may occupy positions of power.

3. The individuated state: 25% of the human race exists in this condition, these are people who question the beliefs, customs, norms and taboos of society. These people seek to discover their own individuality as distinct from society. They have a desire to discover these things from within. A vibration of independence will permeate these individuals as they value self discovery and freedom.

4. The spiritual state: 2-3% of humans are in this category and they are the ones who attempt to understand their own life and others in a unique holistic context. These people are trying to understand the nature of all Creation, and commonly link themselves to spiritual ideas or teachings as the guiding principals of life. Trying to discover and align with the timeless values, beliefs, and truths that apply at all times. In its highest condition it produces the spiritual masters such as Jesus, Buddha, etc.

These four conditions are not rigidly delineated, there is movement between them. And please note that a soul may spend many many lifetimes in each category, soul evolution is extremely slow. For example in each condition you will start at the beginning of the zodiac and work your way around the signs over and over as a way of evolving and growing. Even people in the beginning spiritual state can be off base and struggling to get it right.

15. I'm one of Jeff Green's students.
And he's an evolutionary astrologer not so much a karmic one.
Pluto describes the evolutionary condition of the soul. Its placement
within the chart indicates the condition of the soul upon incarnation.
What Jeffrey has done is given us a window into viewing the chart in spiritual terms rather than mundane ones. A method to understand the birthchart in a whole new way. Personalizing the mandala of planetary interweavings in a fashion that allows the reader to grasp how each planetary energy is used by the soul. Keep reading. Your on the path of discovery!

10. Thanks everyone
for your responses. And for those of you who can send healing energy to shrubbie, good on you! I'm not that evolved, I guess. ;)

As for this particular person, she was one of the charter members. She was involved in a lot of metaphysical stuff, even helping organize "New Age" fairs (some of the group, self included, attended one in Phoenix a few years back). She protested the WTO when it was in Seattle also. BUT, there had been posts from time to time, not a lot, that indicated she was in it for something else. As I look back, I am beginning to suspect she was one of those who latched on to "New Age" because that's where she could make money. Her whole shift from going on & on about peace & goodness & healing & light to dyed in the Kool Aid shrubbie supporter doesn't make sense otherwise.

Anyway, thanks again for your responses. It's helping me put this whole episode into perspective. :)

supports Bush or anything that his administration is doing or has done. I'm sorry that you had to go through this, dg.

I am surprised by some of my seemingly more "evolved" acquaintances' support of him, though. However, they're not at all involved in metaphysical work -- they've just been more open to metaphysical concepts than the average person.

13. Here's one - this makes me want to cry
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 03:59 PM by Cerridwen
"Lawless, the former high priestess of Sisterhood of the Moon, a lesbian pagan organization, has been heavily involved in anti-immigration extremism since 2004,...she invited "militiamen" nationwide to "crawl through the woods in a ghille (sic) suit with sniper rifle" on her private ranch in Cochise County, Ariz." (emphasis mine)

I just saw this post in GD

Border Guardians leader calls for violence

link to GD post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x989543

link to article with pertinent information:
http://www.splcenter.org/intel/news/item.jsp?aid=54

From the article:

"Laine Lawless, who started a group called Border Guardians last year, sent an April 3 e-mail to Mark Martin, "SS commander" of the Western Ohio unit of the National Socialist Movement, which has 59 chapters in 30 states. It was titled, "How to GET RID OF THEM!""

"The e-mail from Lawless, who was also an original member of Chris Simcox’s vigilante militia before it morphed into the Minuteman Project in early 2005,..." (emphasis mine)

<snip>

(some of her suggestions)

* "Steal the money from any illegal walking into a bank or check cashing place."

* "Make every illegal alien feel the heat of being a person without status. ... I hear the rednecks in the South are beating up illegals as the textile mills have closed. Use your imagination."

* "Discourage Spanish-speaking children from going to school. Be creative."

* "Create an anonymous propaganda campaign warning that any further illegal immigrants will be shot, maimed or seriously messed-up upon crossing the border. This should be fairly easy to do, considering the hysteria of the Spanish language press, and how they view the Minutemen as ‘racists & vigilantes.’"

<snip>

I don't know if she qualifies as a * supporter, but, based on this, she qualifies as racist slime.

14. While I don't know any personally,
that doesn't mean there aren't any out there. I would be inclined to think, yes.

There's a Science of mind church near me, (metaphysical church) which I strongly suspect has many members that support this admin. While it would seem to go against the philosophy of the church, not everyone sees their faith as something that influences the rest of their life. Some people seem to live compartmentalized. Does that make sense?

Their spiritual beliefs are in one box or compartment, their politics are another box or compartment, their friends--whole other box.

Ultimately, this creates imbalance in life. If your spiritual beliefs aren't in line with your political beliefs, your relationship beliefs eventually (at least this is what I believe)one starts to suffer because they aren't being true to themselves. Something has to give eventually.

I can only speak for myself in that when I was trying to maintain friendships with people that endorsed ideals I did not believe in, I was quite uncomfortable. When we left their presence I would say to my husband,"...I don't think your friends like me." In time, I learned the truth was I didn't like them, and I didn't like myself trying to fit in to their world. When I was able to be honest about that, I walked away from those relationships and felt much better.

I apologize that I've kind of answered you in a round about way. I hope what I've said makes sense. :hi:

The people you spoke of will have their own issues to deal with in time. If they truly believe what they said they did when they started the e-mail list, they won't be able to be at peace with their new political ideals. They won't have balance.
