Bach flower essence
I purchased a Bach flower essence over the weekend (hornbeam). The instructions for using it are unclear. Does anyone here have any experience/ knowledge about the proper use of these essences?
Thanks!

1. Ah, you've come to the right forum.
We have a lot of veritable essence masters here!

The way I've found it most effective to use them is: 3-5 drops of the essence in 8-12 oz. of hot liquid, (I use tea) followed by slow sipping. Oh, and I usually eat something spicy before beginning to sip, otherwise--well, for me, it's like the essences don't catch.

3. Has no scent
Odd, isn't it? Flower essences that have no scent. Maybe that's because it's so diluted. The bottle says it is 27% alcohol. (Wow!)
You are supposed to use only a few drops in water. I guess if you used any more, you couldn't stand up straight.

I just bought a diffuser a few weeks ago. I think I prefer scented candles but both are great.

edited to correct misspelling.

6. I found this at a FAQ
Edited on Tue Apr-18-06 10:11 AM by Cerridwen
How do I take the Bach Flower Essences?

The Bach Flower Essences can be taken either in a 30ml/1once treatment bottle of spring water and from this take 4 drops 4 times a day until relief is obtained, or two drops in a glass of water and sip at intervals. If no water is available the Essences can be taken undiluted either in the mouth, on the skin behind the ears or on the inside of the wrist.

To prepare a treatment bottle, fill the bottle with fresh spring water and add 2 drops of each Essence. You can combine up to 6 or 7 Essences in a treatment bottle. As preservative (optional) you can use brandy, apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin, 1 tsp. in the treatment bottle.

From "The home of the original Bach Flower Essences & Rescue Remedy" http://www.bachflower.com/index.html

I hope this helps.

edit: grammar

7. I've used Bach's Rescue Remedy
I took it straight: a dropper under the tongue. I think it helped.

11. The basic message of Hornbeam
is that it nourishes the soul with renewed strength and vitality so that it may live more effectively and more joyfully in the world.

12. lots of different ones are available
they're for everything from letting go of the past, to more optimism, to stress relief.

As for dosage, I just use my intuition. 1-2 drops does it for me, but I know someone who was told by her vet to give 5 drops to her little dog. So it's not dangerous to take a little more
