A dream I had

Last night I dreamed that my late mother was about to star in a Broadway show. We were sitting a theater and she was lamenting that she was going to have to work 7 days a week with two shows on Sunday and didn't know how she could possibly do it. I was upset that neither she nor her manager had read the fine print on the contract and negotiated the shows before they signed. I told her that from now on I wanted to look at her contracts before she signed anything. She seemed happy with that. The next thing I rememeber was dancing in a black dress to some old fifties music with some guy with wavy brown hair. Then I woke up.

A little background: I did manage most of my mother's affairs for about 15 years before she died, and she's been gone about 5 1/2 years. However, she was never in show business, nor am I (unless you count a couple of stints as a singing telegram "show business.")

1. I play the lottery when I have a dream like that

I dreamed I went to an exclusive department store (Wanamakers) which is above my league, I saw a bargain table and decided to buy 5 candle lamps, the saleclerk said that they would be $23.00 each. I was quite upset because I was buying them for a Secret Santa and it was going to cost me. The next day 235 came out on the lottery.

2. that's a tough one

to figure out. It probably has something to do with your relationship with your mother (Duh), and somehow all of the layers of communication came out as a broadway show. And with you managing, or wanting to manage her affairs as you had in the past.
Not sure what the broadway show image means- could show personal success with some overload/stress? It could possibly relate to your own feelings of inadequacy in some way? I mean, in that it wasn't actually you being the star of the show. The 50's dancing scene sounded fun, but again I have no idea what that meant beyond that it seemed like a fun way to wrap the dream up. The only thing I can really think of is that maybe you would like to take a more prominent role, and want to express more creativity?

3. This dream tends to say to me that it is your own hidden yearnings

for success and maybe public recognition (and fears of) coming out in this dream.
I have found that at times my dreams would place my strong feelings on someone other than me - maybe because they were too threatening for me to see as my own.

It is the last scene from your dream that strengthens my sense about this, classifilmfan.....although performing onstage in a dream doesn't necessarily mean that your yearning has to do with actual show biz performances IMO, but it could....

Oh, I just noticed your DU name - this really is a passion of yours....:D
