A success story or perhaps just a happy coincidence:

Easter Sunday, I awoke with the right side of my face swollen and a rather large lump on my upper gum (cheek-side). I had noticed a bit of pain for a few days before. I did a quick internet search for homeopathic remedies; no dentist open Easter Sunday, financial considerations, no dental insurance and homeopathics work well on me. I found a listing for mercurius (not at the above site but another) which described my symptoms pretty well. My goal was to eliminate the lump (abscess) without having to have surgery on my gum.

I took 2 aspirin 3 or 4 times throughout the day for the pain. The lump got bigger, the pain increased, face more swollen, gland in neck starting to swell. That evening, my SO returned home from his family's Easter dinner with a bottle of mercurius 6X and a bottle of 1M. His dad advised I take the 6X first. I took one dose before bed.

The next morning, Monday, the abscess is larger and spreading along the gumline; tooth is noticeably loose; face is more swollen; gland in neck more swollen. I began a regimen, as suggested on bottle for acute cases, of 4 tablets every hour; thank heavens for timers, the hours sure do fly by. I took 2 aspirin 2 times during the day for the pain. I also upped my dosage of vitamin C to help with the healing process. Only other pills I take are a multi-vitamin, b-complex, iron and milk thistle. The abscess becomes softer but not noticeably smaller throughout the day. Swelling of face and gland not increasing or decreasing.

Tuesday morning, abscess gone. Small "mushy" area on the gum where the abscess had been. Mildly painful when pressed. Swelling of right side of face; gone, gland in neck also smaller. Pain almost gone. I continued the hourly 4 tablet dosage; just to make sure. No more aspirin. Vitamins with extra C.

Wednesday morning began dosage of 4 tablets every 4 hours rather than hourly dosage. Maintained the dosage through yesterday (Sunday); just to be sure. Vitamins with no "extra" C.

This morning, Monday, no "mushy" spot in gum, face remains un-swollen, gland still normal, no pain, slight tenderness on gum when pushed.

Maybe I just heal easily and quickly, maybe it would have happened anyway, maybe it was the aspirin or the vitamins, maybe it went into remission, maybe I have amazing powers of will, maybe just a coincidence.

Well, it worked for me. Now, to tackle that "rash" I get on my hands and feet that 4, count 'em, 4 medical doctors; including 2 dermatologists; have been unable to heal.

By the way, the mercurius 6X costs $3.99 for 250 tablets. I used about one bottle.

1. Rashes are much harder to cure, and caution is urged

I'm not a homeopath, so I'll need to say this in my own terms. The miasms which homeopathy addresses manifest in us at various levels; the deeper the manifestation, the harder it is to cure. The skin is typically the least dire of the manifestations. It IS possible to "push" the miasm into a deeper layer by treating a rash with a suppressing remedy. It's hard for us layfolk to know whether we're suppressing or curing with our choice of remedy.

My husband worked with a professional homeopath for 13 years, and he's just now seeing some relief from his rash. The doc wanted to make sure that the rash wasn't driven to a deeper level, but could experience true healing.

I'll keep that in mind. I hope to find a good homeopath in this area.

Fortunately and unfortunately, the "rash" I get, is sporadic and progresses quickly through its stages.

I also have fairly consistently positive results with Homeopathy.

Not always, but most often I go to my Homeopath for a prescribed remedy or series of remedies, but I, too, have had success for things I would try drugstore items for, orin place of antibiotics, with Homeopathic remedies.
A certain type of headache I used to get in the spring and summer that would not respond to any painkillers would disappear within 30 minutes when I took Hepar Sulfaris.

Argentum Nitriicum helped me off tranquilizers 25 years ago and helps me with claustrofobia when I have to fly.

My daughter finds a certain Homeopathic complex remedy excellent for whenever she feels a sore throat coming on - before she found this she would have repeated throat infections quite often, but now she zaps it with this remedy and it never progresses into a full-blown sore throat.

I have lots of other anecdotal stories about Homeopathy which I have been using, along with regular medicine, for over 20 years now for myself, family and pets.

But, as always, I would advise anyone with recurring infection to see their medical doctor.
