Receiving with Grace - Accepting Compliments

I personally have had a problem my entire life of accepting even the smallest compliment. I read this today, and it really touched me. I never really thought about what giving a compliment means to the person who is giving it.

I learned the art of accepting them some years ago. Lots of therapy.

I give them to myself, when I'm on the spot with personal growth. Good job! Way to go! You did well on that. Maybe I need to thank myself for positive support.

NEVER reject a compliment. People will stop giving them, and we all need them to get through this.

My ex-roomie is a very wise person. We met through a classified ad, which I entitled "Searching for a Sage". That's someone who will give objective advice. He has not let me down. His compliments mean the world to me. I consider them gold. I trade outdated, mean spirited put downs from my past for his current evaluation.

If we are to encourage others, we must accept encouragement.

4. I used to have a problem accepting compliments, even the

smallest ones. But that was because I used to see myself as unworthy of anything good. At times, I can still struggle with it, but I've come so far over the years, and have learned to accept a compliment with grace.
