takes me back to the time when i lived there as an exchange student. nothing is as beautiful as the scent of lavender on the wind as you watch the plants in the fields sway while the wind passes through them.

You know what else is interesting? Not a favorite, but fun to have around: curry plant. You can't use it for cooking or anything--it's strictly a scent plant--but it's still nice to have around.

11. Okay, I love this one, too.

I was just thinking about this one, as it was one of the scents which helped usher in a brand new period of cataclysmic upheaval and change for me. It was such a bright, beautiful scent that surrounded me in light just before a period of intense darkness consumed me. The anniversary of those events is just coming up, actually. That may have been why I was thinking about it.

Okay, this thread was meant to be more amusing to people than anything else. Obviously, there are a lot of great scents out there that relax, refresh and rejuvenate, not just my beloved rosemary. I was in a silly mood when I posted this.

tomatoes just picked from the vine and fresh torn basil.

Another is the fragrance I radiate when wearing simple Bonnie-Bell Musk Oil....You can find it at Target. It is essentially cheap, $8.00 and I get compliments from both men and women daily when worn.

15. Hhmmm, that's a tough one to answer.

I like the scent of several herbs, which then made me think of the herbs I have planted in the garden which will need to be harvested soon and it made me wonder if you can make a good oil or something else like that to be able to have the scent through the winter. Anybody know?

The herbs I'm thinking of are lavendar, rosemary (won't live through the winter here), basil-though I'll use all of that making pesto, thyme, and sage. I know I can dry them to use for cooking, just wondering if anyone knows how to do some type of oil that you might be able to add to your bath or something when it's freezing outside.

It sounds very pleasant. Do you mix them and waft them under your nose for a pick-me-up? Put them in your bath?

I have the oils and I mix it in the bath, lotion, shower gel, hand soap. And I just take a whiff whenever I want a boost.

Also there are several commercial lines with the combination. Aveda has a line with many products. Lotion, soap, gel, bath etc.
It is pricey but very good. My husband got me a nice basket for Xmas.
Also Bath and Body Shop has shampoo and conditioner with the combination.

18. I was going to say money

as a joke. But then I did a mental sniff of money and the only smell I could come up was a combination of sweat and dirt. Yuck.

24. Oh, and HOW could I have forgotten the majesty of a juniper plus

cypress plus eucalyptus blend? I just found a MUDD brand face mask with those ingredients and used it and it was lovely. Plus, it left me with nicely refined pours, smooth, perfectly moisturized skin and feeling relaxed.

25. I have to agree, I go nuts every time I find a rosemary tree & I

always buy them around Christmas, but this year I found them at Home Depot in September. I was thrilled...Rosemary is for remembrance...I always run my hands up and down just to get a whiff of that incredible rosemary scent! It's incredible. While I do like lavender & lilac...there is nothing like rosemary.

26. And I Was Just Drying Some Basil...

...I had brought it from my sister's garden and I was SO enjoying the fresh smell of it. Dried it almost smells like licorice, but fresh it smells almost like a flower of some kind. It was lovely. Though I also love the smell of rosemary, sage, fennel (which becomes mace later, doesn't it?) and lots of other herbs.

BTW - does anyone have a good recipe for Japanese eggpplant? My sis grew some just as an experiment and I have 4 very purple ones sitting in my kitchen with absolutely *no* idea what to do with it. I checked on the Internet but all their recipes are elaborate or have ingredients I do not have around. I am a "meat and potatoes" cook and in my kitchen are the usual staples, but some of the stuff I saw was expensive and hard to find. Through my friends, of Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Africaan, S America, E Indian, Swedish, I have learned to enjoy other foods not of my ethnic background, and I have learned to do some marvelous stir fry as well as was married to a Mexican chef for 20 years and have learned a few things from him too, but even they are stumped.

PM me if you have any good ideas, lol.

27. I have a rosemary/lavender scented bug spray

(organic, of course) that smells heavenly, and keeps the mosquitos away when I garden.
Otherwise, I'm a lavender fan, myself.

I was looking more for a scent that smells like blueberry, only darker, or maybe blueberry and lavender mixed together, and when lilac wasn't exactly right, I found that going back to the "basic" worked just fine.
