1. I read that earlier.
She was such an amazing woman. I loved her sense of humor. I loved her sass. I loved her smarts. She really IS an inspiration, and I feel a sadness at her passing.

3. I believe...
she left so she could sooner return.
We're going to need a fighting soul like her as soon as possible. She needed a new body for the strength and energy to carry on her great spirit.
Rest well m'lady, and return soon.

4. When she ran against Clayton Williams
(the man who quipped that "rape was like the weather, just lay back and enjoy it") I stayed up ALL night until Richards was officially declared governor. Eben though I hadn't had any sleep, I was pumped the next day.

I was devastated when she lost to smirky.

I've missed her for years.

5. Ann was governor when DH and I lived in Texas for awhile.
She was well loved by the Texans and I was flabbergasted when she lost her second term. Back then I wouldn't have believed it was a rigged election, but I'll bet Georgy porgy and his circle of neo-cons were up to their dirty tricks even as far back as then.

As for Ann, she's probably got a big welcome on the other side. Maybe she rest in peace. My thoughts are with her.

6.  ... one of the best times
to have lived in the state. Glad you could make it.

7. I hadn't cried until the news did a story tonight about how she was the
first to appoint so many women and minorities to state positions. We have lost so much ground in the last decade.

8. I cried when
I read the story about her laying in state at the Capital building this weekend. I will go.
She was a true American Stateswoman.

9. Godspeed this lovely lady
along her path to her reward. I think that she, along with other souls that have left here in the last few years will be able to do more from other side than they could do here.

10. I had the pleasure of seeing her give a speech in person in
Northtowne in the Kansas City area during the Kerry/Bush selection.

I was a volunteer for the democratic party and she shook my hand..and I thought she was wonderful. During her speech she was quite upset that no one had met her at the airport, and I don't believe she was kidding.

However, it was wonderful and inspiring to hear her speak and I wish this wonderful lady peace and love.

AUSTIN, Texas -- She was so generous with her responses to other people. If you told Ann Richards something really funny, she wouldn't just smile or laugh, she would stop and break up completely. She taught us all so much -- ...

Some of Ann on Recovery >
"I had seen the very bottom of life," she once recalled. "I was so afraid I wouldn't be funny anymore. I just knew that I would lose my zaniness and my sense of humor. But I didn't. Recovery turned out to be a wonderful thing."

From Larry King Live >

RICHARDS: Well, the first thing that I would tell you is do what you're doing. Do not be afraid to talk about it. Secrets, I think, are so destructive to your life and to your psyche and to your energy, to everything. So talk about who you are with pride.

If you are in recovery, you should be so proud of yourself because you're doing that. The second thing that I would tell you is that understand that this is not a character fault. This doesn't mean that you have bad morals. It simply means that there is chemically something in you that caused you to have this happen to you.

And the third thing is to remember that it doesn't matter what you tell someone to do. You really can't tell people to get sober. You can't tell them how to get sober. You can simply do it by example. If there is anything that I can say to people who are out there who have a problem with alcohol or drugs or behavioral characteristics, there is help for you, and I'm living proof of that. I can't tell you how to do it. I can only tell you that it works.
