Any Reiki healers in the house?

My path this life is as a healer, this is something Spirit has passed to me very strongly, and I'm interested in exploring all kinds of methods. So I was wondering how those of you who use Reiki view this tool. What have been your experiences been with it? Has it been a positive thing in your life? The reason I ask is because my roommate is a Reiki Master and I'm interested in getting attuned. I've already read Essential Reiki by Diane Stein, which everyone seems to recommend as the best book out there on it.

I really missed hanging out here, I hope my schedule allows me to chill out some more. :(

I think that any modality toward healing is worth pursuing. All hands on and energy healing can be a fabulous way to go.

If you are drawn to healing just start reading and learning and taking classes as you are drawn to them. I highly recommend Reiki and almost any other energy healing technique.

2. I do reiki too

I really enjoy it, even though I only do it for family and friends right now. I also do "stealth reiki" on folks who need it but don't know they need it (distance reiki, obviously). :rofl:

I realize there are two camps on this--some who think a person receiving reiki should first ask for it or give their consent to have it done, and some who think that if you're doing it in good faith/with the correct intent they don't have to know, and their higher self will accept only what they need. I'm in the latter camp.

In any case, I find myself calmer and more balanced the more I do it for others, so it's doubly beneficial--for the giver and the receiver.

I strongly recommend it.

3. Yes, indeed.

I agree with all of the above comments, but would add that self-treatment is wonderful. You can Reiki musical instruments before a performance; it helps connect the instrument to deeper levels of your consciousness. Pets and plants thrive with it. The Master level attunement was very special, bathing me in a warm glow.

I do have a question to that. A baby grand piano which has lost it's primary performer - what does it need? (aside from tuning :) )

5. I should clarify.

If you happen to be a musician, giving a treatment to your instrument before a performance will create a kind of attunement between you and the instrument. You will perform better. If you are learning to be a performer, the energy should help.

Without the performer, Reiki is not much use, since you are not actually healing the instrument.

As a side note, I have noticed that organic materials (wood, wicker, etc.) seem to conduct this energy better than non-organic. But to reiterate, you won't see any obvious changes from sending the energy. It's more for the performer's benefit.

the piano is my father's instrument - he was a conductor and tought many students...
I only play by ear, improvised and composed way back when -

Just wondering whether an instrument would attune to a particular person, because he's been gone ('87) - so to speak.

I'm practically working vampire hours now doing data entry, so by the time I get home all I want to do is sleep. :( But the good news is I've acclamated very quickly to the Arizona heat...must have been all those past lives spent in the desert! :silly:
