The Stars This Week: "Be True to Yourself" - Jan. 1 - Jan. 7, 2007
Be True to Yourself

01/01/06 - 01/07/06 (sic)

This week provides a mixture of the practical and the innovative with the Sun's sextile to eccentric Uranus on January 2 and Mercury making the same aspect on January 4. When relationship planet Venus heads into independent Aquarius on January 3, you'll be ready to leave some of your work behind and invest in your social life. Mercury and the Sun come together in a conjunction on January 7, and everything you've been thinking about begins to come together into a solid plan.

January 2: Sun sextile Uranus

Take the hardworking energy of the Capricorn Sun and add the inspired originality of Uranus in Pisces and your world can't help but open up. People help you create opportunities, and you'll want to make changes that enhance your life. It's time to think outside the box. So whether you seek a promotion at work, feel like heading off to a spiritual retreat or want to sign up for a computer class -- do it! Let's face it: You're ready for a change.

January 3: Venus enters Aquarius

Looking for a kindred spirit? The person who opens your heart and can actually carry on a conversation with you is perfectly represented by Venus, the planet of love and relationship, entering Aquarius, the premiere sign of friendship. This is a great time to place yourself in environments where you will meet people who share your interests. So, attend a book signing if you love to read, get a museum membership if you love art, or take a ballroom dancing class if you love to dance. There's a saying: The stars impel but don't compel. Loosely translated: You've got to get out there and help yourself!

January 4: Mercury sextile Uranus

Mercury symbolizes the personal thinking process. Electric Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, representing the universal or group mind. When Mercury entered Capricorn in December, your mind zeroed in on the practical, material aspects of your life, and you examined your life goals in terms of what you want to achieve. With Uranus now in the mix, your thinking process speeds up. You may need to write down everything you're thinking so you don't forget it. New ideas, conversations, agreements and plans provide exciting opportunities you'll want to make the most of.

January 7: Sun conjunct Mercury

2. stella, I'm not saying this in a "poor me" way, but...
this is one of the few things that I can do to add something to the group. I can't do astrology, I'm not psychic, I can't interpret dreams, etc., so this is my little way of giving something back to the group. (I think that I consider it to be something similar to 'earning my keep' in a weird way. :))

My wings are clipped during this incarnation. I'm so happy that so many of you are still able to fly. O8)

You could do most of this stuff you know.

I taught myself general astrology then branched into karmic astrology.
And learned everything I could about karma and spirituality. Then worked on mediumship skills and other psychic abilities. Then I learned about healing crystals, and learned how to make crystal jewelry. More recently I am studying Reiki, energy healing.

Am also planning to to work on skills in the area of past life and in between lives regression therapy and may do some of that kind of work. And going to tackle Tarot this year as well.

My point is you do not have to be psychic to do most of this work. And often psychic skills manifest as you do the metaphysical work. The talent becomes more apparent as you learn some of the tools of the trade.

Everything you need is sitting in your aura. :)

4. I think that both tarot and astrology are a combination of art and science.
I can manage the science part, but the art part is beyond me. It's critical to be able to integrate everything together and get the message/energy from the combined forces. I actually took lessons on tarot, and I could understand the individual cards, but there's a step up that requires a certain level of initutive ability that I just don't have -- at least not yet.

I'm planning to take astrology lessons with ricochetastroman because he lives very close to me. I can see the same thing happening with astrology that happened with tarot. However, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I do feel that astrology is part of my path, though.

I have studied crystals (years ago), and I don't feel as though I have any healing abilities.

It's OK though, cassie. Maybe things will change at some point, and my inituition will kick in. If not, then this is what I wanted to experience in this life or what my job is in this life, I guess. I guess that the world needs to have people who are spiritual and who are very grounded so that the masses see that there are "regular people" like me (who don't have any psychic gifts) who take non-religious spirituality seriously. I do think that this is part of my path, boring as it is.

I will keep in mind what you said, though, as I always do with what you tell me. You know how much I appreciate your take on things. :)

It is a process and you have to be patient.

I think for most of us the intuitive part kicks in best after you have learned the basics. I studied astrology for about a year, all the science part of it. It was complex and so much information, it was all left brained for me. Then one day I looked at a natal chart and BOOM, the chart was speaking to me. I knew what it was saying without thinking so hard.

And then I started dreaming about charts at night in active 3D. It was pretty amazing. But it took time and experience for me to get to that point. I also think you have to plunge in at some point
and start doing readings. That really makes things happen. That is when it all came together for me.

And you do not need healing abilities to work with crystals. You can make prayer beads for others etc. The most important part to all of this stuff I think is a spirituality, not psychic skills.

And most people have mediumship abilities, it is supposed to be the easiest of all the psychic skills. You can probably do it now Dream.
I was able to do that before I even believed in any of this. I was just too embarrassed to admit it, actually it still embarrasses me to no end. I do it very reluctantly.

For me the hardest part is just relaxing and going with the flow.
Letting myself feel like an idiot and quit telling myself it is just my imagination. And allowing it to happen and see where it goes. I like everything verified so this is not easy. And once you start getting feedback that you are accurate it feels better. I admit that even when I get hits, I still feel like I am just a good guesser.

And do not compare yourself to others. I have so many very talented friends and it all comes so easy to them. Me, I have to work hard at all of it just to be marginal. But that is OK. I follow Einstein's motto: 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration. :)

I am so excited about you learning astrology. That is fabulous. Let me know if I can tempt you to branch off into karmic astrology at some point. :)

insert myself into your conversation, I believe everyone has healing abilities. If you pet an animal or touch a sick child, you are using healing abilities. I don't know that I had ever given it much thought, but signed up on a date site several years ago and one question was, if you could have any super ability, what would it be. Lots of people wanted x-ray vision, some to fly, etc. I had to think about it, but finally chose, healing touch. I had never heard of Reiki, but shortly after that, it came to me. I found a group and received the attunements, and it was one of those things that changed my life forever. I'm sure you do have a gift of healing. My opinion.

Lessons on Tarot sounds like fun! I've decided to leave astrology to the astrologers. I wish I knew more, but that isn't my course of study, for now. A friend taught me Tarot, bless his heart. His mother had taught him both astrology (he uses a karmic method) and Tarot. I read a lot of books with slightly different takes on the cards. I did online readings with a free group that critiques each other's readings. Learned a lot from them. There are endless ways to use Tarot, and none of them are 'wrong'. This site is a psychologist, who has written a book (I've never read it) > http://www.artrosengarten.com/lexicon3.htm < who uses Tarot in his practice. The 'Articles' link has specific information about how he does that.

I just realized I have some beautiful Tarot 'favorite' links! Wow. You might like this one > http://tarotjourney.net/ <

Didn't mean to hijack. But as long as I'm here, I also believe that 'intuition' has a lot to do with being in touch with the inner spirit that is a 'child'. We all have one. No one, that I know of, popped on the scene as an 'adult'. Some never will ;) .. It just seems to me that the more I live in each moment and allow myself to feel innocence and wonder, the more intuitive things happen. Maybe that's just me. I would be interested to know if anyone else feels that to be true?

5. Oh sweetie
I empathize totally.

Being able to contribute monumentally on the internet but being stymied in some ways in form is a total conundrum.

Part of me feels as though my worst addiction is through the internet. Yet another part of me knows that I may or may not have contributed to consciousness changes, so go figure.

10. I can still remember the first thread of yours that I saw. I hadn't yet...
found this forum, and when I found your thread about Mother Earth telling you things I was so excited because it was the first such thread that I had seen on DU. I remember fighting off the smart asses skeptics who were messing with the energy in your beautiful thread.

Your thread gave me hope that there were kindred spirits on DU.

Thank you for being who you are, stella. It's an honor to know you.

11. The honor is equally mine
and I totally agree with cass, (how unusual) you've more skills than you are aware and I wish to goodness that you'd stop disparaging yourself so much and get out of your own way and just let it flow. I know, I know. . .easier said than done.

Here >>>>>>>>>> are your wings back. :)

Okay. . .?

Really after lifetimes of practicing this stuff, it's that simple. . . sometimes we are all more open than other times. I just know you help may more than you know.

I think you may be refering to some version of this thread I posted last year.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=5444610

I posted it several times and on this version there were very few nay sayers. That's not to say there weren't on other versions. All in all I'm pleased with the ways in which folks mostly respond to my somewhat silly suggestions of spiritual solutions.

Still have no clue what to do with all of that stuff.

Just glad you found this forum. You are a mainstay for sure.

Best to you as always in the new year.

and I remember thinking "Oh, no! They're going to scare her away!"

13. well again here's a perfect example of your sensitivities that you someitmes doubt
You were indeed picking up on something that DID happen. It just didn't happen last year.

Three and a half years ago there was a character whose screen name I won't mention who frequented this site. He used to bait all the astro heads with questions, then totally flame them when they tried to help.

My first post was in response to one of his queries and he roasted me and I scarcely posted at all for about 6 months.

I later learned after this forum was established that he did that recurrently to a lot of people. I did take it personally though.

Dunno if he's been ts'ed or if he's been told to avoid our little sanctuary here.

See. . .you ARE more psychic than you know.

So there. :)

7. Everything coming together into a solid plan by Jan 7 would be nice...
she mutters sarcastically, as she tries to remain centered while her mind is in 15 different places as usual...
