So, welcome to the year of the...Fire Pig?

The Pig is the last sign of the Chinese zodiac. Some of the research I did today indicates that the sign of the Pig corresponds to a birth time of 9-10:30 p.m. and is the Western equivalent of the sign of Scorpio.

Both my parents are 1947 Fire Pigs. My little sister is an '83 Water Pig. That leaves me as the out-of-place '79 Earth Goat. We all have semi-compatible rising signs, though, I believe. This should be an interesting year for my Pig relatives. Do we have any Pigs in this forum who would like to discuss the joys of Pigness?

1. I'm a Pig!!

Not sure what it means, but according to a charcoal artist at Jackson Square in New Orleans, I am a double pig!! I was born in the year of the Pig and am a Scorpio. So that makes my Pig characteristics over the top I guess.

The charcoal artist had learned Chinese astrology from a visitor, and she freely dispensed advice while she drew. Her descriptions of my entire family were so accurate--more than regular astrology. The Pig sign has to do with loving to solve mysteries (that's the only part I remember). She told me that during a law enforcement convention, everyone she saw was a Pig!! (maybe not double, but at least single--she said she was careful not to call them "pigs."). I have always thought I would be a good detective. It seems I am always using my detective qualities, but not in solving crimes.

One of my daughters is a double Rooster, and that was VERY interesting. She also had a daughter that was a double Rooster, and she described my daughter to a T. Less than ten percent of people are doubles, though. Most people have a mix of characteristics. I have given my daughter a few roosters for birthday presents.

3. well, i bet you're in for a great year!

last year was my sign - the dog - and i had a pretty fantastic year.

4. Know what's weird? My Years of the Goat (all three of them)

have all kinda sucked. Especially 2003, which was more or less the worst year of my life. Last year was not horrible, though, in fact, it was quite interesting, and my rising sign is Dog. My rising sign in Western astrology is, of course, Scorpio, so maybe this Year of the Pig will have a fortuitous impact on me.

2. Wooden Horse here

My son is also wooden horse. I think it means we are stubborn.

but I was born at 10 pm, so perhaps I'm sort of piggish. :shrug:

8. Hee. I'm still wary and pessimistic about this year,

as, at minimum, it will involve hard work, and I am SO tired, but I LOVED that the forecast for this year for Goats was typified by "Emotional Intelligence," "Friend" and "Unexpected Funds." That jives with everything I've been hearing (though not seeing) in my actual life for the coming 2007.

Supposedly, that's a bad match, which has me a tad concerned, as it was intimated to me that one of my kids wants to be born in the Year of the Ox.
