The heights of the mountain beckon our Capricorn nature at this first full moon of the year. The year is turning from 2006 to 2007, from the decline of the light to the ascendancy of the light, from a past we can leave behind as the babe of the New Year is birthed. The secrets of the Capricorn archetype are contained in its place of prestige at the zenith of the heavens, its inherent sacred nature and its sturdy, pragmatic nature. The archetype of Cancer reveals the ripe fullness of life as the gateway to the birth of consciousness which rises to its full human and worldly achievement in Capricorn.

At this beginning of a new year the Moon in Cancer is our reminder that we all choose to enter life, to be born, to embrace living and to fulfill our purpose in that birth. The Sun in Capricorn is our clarion call to seek that purpose consciously in this coming year. Our deepest and most authentic purpose is to evolve, to awaken, and to share our talent and being in the work that our soul is here to accomplish. As Capricorn gifts us with its wisdom for this new year we must hear the goat’s message that we are all born as divine and sacred beings who are here to live a fully human life as an expression of our sacred nature. As we learn to trust our divinity, to listen deeply for the truth of our evolutionary goal, and to act constructively and pragmatically to achieve the zenith of our capabilities we are becoming our Capricorn nature.

Another of Capricorn’s secrets lies in its disguises. The disguises are our earthly nature viewed and lived without the profound truth of our eternal, sacred origin. In the quiet dark of this turning of the year at the winter solstice and the new year, look at the "who’s" you think you are, the past you believe weights you down, the beliefs about you, others and the world that cripple you. None of these identities, stories about the past or beliefs that limit you can be true if you are the soul being that you genuinely are. These disguises encase and constrict our true and powerful self, the self that can manifest (remember that Capricorn is the transpersonal earth sign uniting spirit and matter) our finest vision. The top of the mountain can only be reached by taking those first steps along the path after we have committed to the climb and the vision.

At this Full Moon use this moment to sight your highest goal, commit to your goal, and begin the journey in a new way. Let your way be guided by the shedding of your disguises, the recognition of your evolving soul’s power to achieve your desired goal, and the dynamic action to climb farther than you have ever climbed.
