1. My son was marveling over similar occurances and inquiring about them.
Edited on Thu Jan-04-07 06:37 PM by stellanoir
I found this. . .

http://www.kryon.com/inspiritmag/archives/Q-A%20archives/2004-Q%26A/Q%26A-3rdquarter04.html#8

and printed it out for him. It resonated with him. Hope it does with you as well.

Not to worry.

There are simply times that are more purgative and times that are more proactive than others. Many go through this. You are not alone.

Ask my son or me. We've both been there.

To risk a cliche. . ."To be forwarned is to be forearmed."

It is a wondrous gift. IMHO

2. That is sometimes part of being a Clariscentrist
My father died two years ago and I have been smelling him over the last week. Just pay attention to what you are thinking or feeling when it happens. It's one of the 6 psychic abilities.

6. Clariscentrist:

You may also be clariscentrist and psychically smell fragrances, flowers, perfume or other odors such as tobacco or alcohol even when a substance or food is not in your immediate surroundings.

http://www.luisprada.com/Protected/Your_Six_Spiritual-Psychic_Senses.htm

A taste in your mouth or an odor in the air . . .

You may be clairgustant and physically taste a substance, liquid or food without actually putting anything in your mouth. You may be clariscentrist and psychically smell fragrances, flowers, perfume or other odors such as tobacco or alcohol even when a substance or food is not in your immediate surroundings.

You often connect with the spiritual realms when you sleep, pray, daydream, feel inspired, invent or create something, use imagination or intuition, do artwork, commune with nature, pay an instrument, solve a problem, walk, drive, relax, meditate, write, speak, think or practice mindfulness among other things. For women, the week before your period is an especially good time for receiving guidance. Pay attention to thoughts, feelings and impressions at that time.

High spiritual guidance is loving, repetitive, mature, familiar, respectful, powerful, joyful, strong and persistent. It talks about your life’s purpose and is supportive, inspiring and empowering. It offers suggestions and guides saying “you” versus “I” in a straightforward manner. Guidance is not scary, although it may offer a loving warning or suggestion of doing things a different way. When asking for advice, Divine Spirit will not tell you what to do. It recognizes a higher power, leaves the choice up to you, encourages your growth and development, and recognizes the divine order of things. You have free will at all times.

3. Some possibilities
Some health problems can cause the symptoms you describe. Especially if the onset of the deja vu related to odors is recent, sudden or gotten much more intense.

And yes this can also be a psychic ability, albeit one of the less frequent ones.

I would do a google search on olfactory deja vu, olfactory memory, seizures, etc and educate yourself about possible medical problems.

Also you can do a search on psychic abilities, and read about all the abilities. Usually people have this ability along with others.

The other thing that might be helpful is to log the occurrences for at least a week and see if you can begin to see a pattern.

4. Smell and memory are linked for me.
I have no idea if it is the same for others, but for me a smell is VERY tightly linked to certain memories. To give you an example, the sales lady that sold my Mom and me my first bra was wearing violet scented perfume... (Talk about some associations with THAT!)

Irish Spring Soap is another milestone in my life. Lilacs are memories from my childhood. Lavender... (Odd, I hadn't noticed until now how floral my memories are. I have to contemplate that realization, I think.)

Anyhow, to get back on track here, I am not surprised that some particularly strong memories would be associated with smells--even ones from previous lives. Is it possible that is what is happening to you?

6. olfactory sense
Edited on Fri Jan-05-07 03:30 AM by votesomemore
is a primal one. A simple study of brain anatomy gets you there pretty quickly.
It is not unusual at all. Our sense of smell is primal.

To OP: I wish I could smell my dad. He had a unique attraction that way.
This is Western Civilization, so I don't want to get too offbeat.

My ex-step son had a certain smell. I could never figure it out. It reminded me of a soap but I could never determine where that smell came from. It was just in his rest room. It really used to drive me nuts trying to figure out where it was coming from. Never did.

Repeat. smells are very primal. We smell more during a day than we are aware of. If I can remember a bit of the anatomy lessons, olfactory hooks directly into the limbic system. IOW, pass go on speed.

10. I feel very inadequate to address
but it seems like this is painful for you. Has anything ever come of this? Or it just makes you feel uneasy? Has anything ever happened after you had the olfactory experience? I wish I had more to offer. All I have is questions.

The way I feel things has evolved. Sort of 'see' with my third eye. But it is more solar plexus feeling. So. I know someone will step in to give you something.

The best I can do is suggest that your senses might be waking up to para-normal. This just passed Christmas, I honored in no way. No reason to. But I could smell the cinnamon and cider I used to make. The sweet Christmas greens. I worked as a florist many years and will never forget their scent, nor that of roses.

Are you saying that these smells are triggering alert signals for you? I don't mean to be rude. I'm interested in what this could be.
