Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 12:44 AM by lildreamer316
I am on the mailing list for my local New Ageish shop here. The are having a series of channeling sessions with a lady whom they say has been confirmed through this: Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health in the Department of Psychology at the University of Arizona. They also say that this group has confirmed John Edwards; Allison DuBois (the show Medium is based on her); and several other famous psychics. I'm going to do some research on this and post links here. Thought some of you might like to know; since we have discussed several of these people before.

Here's what I've found so far:

Okay. On futher reading; I remember now that on Allison's website; she writes against the author of a book about her and one of the founders of this group who does research on her. The book he wrote is The Truth About Medium: Extraordinary Experiments with the real Allison DuBois of NBC's Medium and other Remarkable Psychics(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1571744592?tag2=veritasresear-20). I believe they have some sort of beef; but I don't put aside the value of his research either.

1. This is really interesting. I haven't had a chance to look at the...
website yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks, lildreamer!

2. Schwartz
As far as I know, he is the only academic person studying stuff like this. I know about him because I am a Coast to Coast fan.

He described one study--the mediums described what they were getting from the other side, and the person that it was for had a "guess" on which reading was for them. So, apparently overwhelmingly, they were able to discern the correct reading. All the statistics were applied, and, yes, mediumship is real, at least for the mediums studied.

Schwartz is one of the most interesting guests on Coast to Coast.

Obviously he has tenure or he wouldn't be able to "get away" with this research. Still brave of him to risk the scorn of colleagues. The Randi type people really don't like this type of research. I wonder why not? Fear?

4. Look at Schwartz's credentials, past Harvard and Yale faculty.
Impeccable credentials.
But yes I am assuming he has tenure.

I have read most of his research and it is hard to
argue with it.

He went in this line of research a skeptic and
came out a believer.

3. U of A has been cutting edge and out there... Hired Andrew Weil
to head their newly formed Integrative Medicine Dept
when most docs wanted his head on a platter. But Andy
Weil has stood the test of time and now his work is mainstream.
You can go to any family doc and hear them spout Weil's work.
So ironic but so very good.

5. Yes; I love Weil.
I remember when he was first on Oprah--I ran out and got the 8 weeks book immediately.
Didn't remember he was part of this. (Duh!)

6. I read his first book in the early/mid 90's when he was an unknown.
Spontaneous Healing.
It was electrifying.

Here was a Harvard educated physician touting holistic health, energy medicine
and spiritual connection to our body's functioning.

I had tingles up and down my spine and knew he would be famous.
My husband laughed at me and said that Weil would be drummed out of medicine, Harvard education or not. No way docs or patients would buy this stuff, he said.

I knew the public was so hungry for the kind of work Weil was doing.
Of course today we know that Weil's controversial views are now mainstream to
a large extent. When you see your family doc he or she quotes Deepok Chopra! :)
and tells you to start meditating!

7. This sounds good...another resource I found for
validating mediums is Bob Olsen from OfSpirit.com

http://www.ofspirit.com/psychics.htm

I consulted one of the mediums he recommends this summer and was not disappointed. If any of you are interested in more info, please PM me.

8. while we're on this topic
Brian Weiss.

A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

Weiss could have done any number of things with his background, but reincarnation is the direction he chose.

9. Yes, Dr Weiss, Dr Michael Newton, Dr Judith Orloff.
All highly credentialed mainstream medical professionals
who put everything on the line to speak out.
