"Dresden Files" - new series on Sci Fi ...

... halfway thru the pilot eppy, looks pretty good.

Main character is a "wizard" (not sure how they determined that he's a wizard, yet) who apparently works part time as a PI in Chicago.

4. Ooo, I have always wished to be a wizard!

I can't stop watching Lord of the Rings, and I want a walking stick with a crystal on it lol. I told my husband I think I must have known a wizard in one of my last lives!

7. The ending was wierd.

... I was expecting some sort of physical/metaphysical 'battle' .. but it just sort of 'ended'.

I still intend to watch the next eppy's to see how the under-story develops.

At some point in the series, they'll probably inject mutant creatures or aliens. But at least it's got a metaphysical premise.

9. Oh, there were already mutants in the pilot ...

... "Skin Walkers" ... who I took to be 'minor demons' who find bodies to inhabit for a short time, but instead of possessing them they skin the person, leave the corpse and just assume the identity.

Anyway, I'm going to give Sci Fi the benefit of the doubt ... just because they're showing it doesn't necessarily mean they 'wrote' (therefore warped) it. And I was a little pleased to see Nic Cage's name as one of the Exec Producers (or something like that).

I certainly couldn't see 'ABC Family' or 'Lifetime' promoting a series like this. :shrug:

Oh, I just like to make fun of SciFi, because I'm bitter that there's no New Age frosted flake channel. But I watch a lot of SciFi every week. My very favoritest tv show is on SciFi, as a matter of fact: "Ghost Hunters", with the TAPS crew. I never miss that one and own the dvd's and subscribe to their magazine. In my opinion, TAPS should get the same federal budget as NASA.

Even so, I really bet you that the SciFi execs told Nic Cage, "We love it! Put some mutants in it, and we'll buy it!" And I'll be watching it, too.
