You'll find a lot of proponents of "The Secret" on this board--but because I only have a secondhand knowledge of that technique, I'll let others explain it.
But as for me, I manifest by going into alpha and simply thinking "I would like this to happen (or come to me or what have you)", adding "for the good of all and harming none", and then releasing the thought. Dwelling on it too much binds it to you. The hardest part is removing doubt, because that's human nature--"I want this...but..."--if you know what I mean.
Here's a good example: On Christmas Eve, when we got out of work early, I was driving to the grocery store before heading home, listening to Christmas songs on the radio. I was in alpha (not intentionally--just doing the automatic thing of driving) and thought, almost randomly, "Gee, I haven't heard 'Some Day At Christmas' this season, and it's one of my favorite holiday songs. I'd really like to hear that before the season's over with..."
Sure enough, that afternoon I heard it on the radio.
FOUR TIMES. In the span of about 45 minutes!
I consider that a great example of releasing a wish after making it. I wasn't clinging to it, desperately wanting it--I just thought it would be nice to hear the song. Sure made me laugh at how well I manifested it!
When I was newer to paganism and witchcraft, I used to do spells with a lot of paraphrenalia--tools, candles, time of day, phase of moon, rhyming chants, etc.--but I've gotten away from that somewhat. I still do it, but I have realized that like anything you get used to by doing it often, it gets easier with fewer trappings. The tools are just something to keep you focused. So they can be good to use to help you concentrate.
As always, you have to noodle around and find what works best for you, I guess! :hi:
On edit: Forgot! D'oh! Asking the folks on this board for good mojo to help you manifest something can be the most effective technique of all! They are GOOOOOD!
