Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers". On one of the new sites I found last night, there is an article based on her book. It reminded me of a conversation I read earlier about why possibly we are are all here together. Wanted to share.

Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers Elizabeth Edwards
A letter from Elizabeth Edwards
There is nothing new under the sun. And yet we write and compose and paint, because, as the old political joke goes, “You may have heard this joke before, but you’ve never heard me tell it.” Each telling is different because it matters what you see, it matters what you emphasize, it matters how you spread your words, your blessings. And, in truth, we are all buoyed, or maybe I am just speaking for myself because I am buoyed by the thought that it does matter that we are the ones to speak or act, that our condolences, our hugs, our spoken outrage really makes a difference. So I have spent a lifetime speaking out and reaching out, and in this book, I am just doing what I have always done, but I am doing it on the pages of a book. ... more

Edwards writes about growing up in a military family, where she learned how to make friends easily in dozens of new schools and neighborhoods around the world and came to appreciate the unstinting help and comfort naval families shared. Edwards’ reminiscences of her years as a mother focus on the support she and other parents offered one another, from everyday favors to the ultimate test of her own community’s strength—their compassionate response to the death of the Edwards’ teenage son, Wade, in 1996. Her descriptions of her husband’s campaigns for Senate, president, and vice president offer a fascinating perspective on the groups, great and small, that sustain our democracy. Her fight with breast cancer, which stirred an outpouring of support from women across the country, has once again affirmed Edwards’ belief in the power of community to make our lives better and richer. ...

Has anyone read this?

edit: It also reminds me of the amazing support I've received from many lately, not the least the members of this forum.

1. I just finished the book on Friday.....
I read it at work during lunches and breaks, and many times it had me in tears. She speaks so eloquently of her pain at losing her son, and what she went through with the breast cancer. And she is an amazing and beautiful human being, so strong, and yet so able to admit to vulnerabilities. I think she would be an outstanding First Lady.
