The 4th astrological topic that we will discuss as part of our “ASTROLOGY TOPICS” threads series is the concept of the Sun in astrology. (We will not discuss here what it means for it to be located in any particular astrological House of the chart.)

I’m going to give some really basic information which is just to start the conversation. (Please note that I’m simply taking information from sites on the web, so I’m not an expert and can’t actually answer questions myself.)

The Zodiac is made up of 12 different Sun signs. Your date of birth determines which one you are. The signs of the Zodiac were discussed in Astrology Discussion Topic 2 at the link below, if you wish to refresh your memory:

Here’s some information in reference to what the Sun represents in a chart: (Note that each is just one person's definition.)

The Sun represents the center from which your life energy flows, the creative energy that fuels your sense of purpose. Your Sun radiates out and illuminates all your other planets with light and energy.

If you fail to recognize and express your true self, then you may lose the balance between ego and the larger self. You may lose all enthusiasm; feeling stuck and without purpose; or stubborn pride and arrogance can move outward and distort all your other planetary energies.

The sign of your Sun describes the kind of creative energy you use to focus and center all your vital energies. The House position of your Sun describes the area of life experiences in which you shine with this focused energy, where you express your vitality, where you seek recognition and a sense of purpose.
