A poetry game, of sorts
Edited on Tue Feb-08-05 04:26 AM by Behind the Aegis
I just read another thread that had some serious poems. They were very nice and heartfelt (and heart-wrenching). It seems though, there a few people who are wanting to let some things out. So, I have devised an idea/game.

Here's the idea...the poster (me in this case) gives a topic, 5 words the person CANNOT use, and five words the person WOULD like to see in the poem. After some writes a poem, that person gives a topic and the word challenge and the original poster has to respond. Since I don't want to write too many poems (I'm not very good), I will reply to this post to get it started. Any posts to the this post can be a "topic."

Confused? Here is an example:

I post a topic..someone responds...I respond back. A post directly tied to this one (meaning it says in the upper-right-hand corner 'original post') gets to post another topic and someone responds, then the original poster responds.

Sound interesting? I think this is a unique way to express ourselves and no one has to share without the requester sharing as well!

Give it a whirl!

On edit: It doesn't have to rhyme or be very long. Use any prose you are comfortable with when writing!

1. Topic: Chaos
Cannot use: Shrub (or his real name), death, stars, war, or pain

Would like to see: timeless, dark, goddess, beginning, and freedom.

Can someone write a poem about this?

2. In this timeless moment. . .
the dark is diminishing,

as the sun hovers over horizon's edge,

once again vanquishing the dark

and gently caressing the clouds into increasingly vibrant color.

The Goddess awakes from her slumber,

and stretches,

and rearranges our world to more appropriate proportions,

in greater synchronicity with the surrounding cosmos .

'Tis perhaps the beginning of a new experience,

where freedom is no longer a slogan

but a way of being for all.

The sky sings as the clouds reflect a salmon light

bathed in lavender

from the source of all of our sustenance.

In hues that far surpass Renoirs'

the world is revived and restored

. . . . on a daily basis.

In this we can only trust.

5. Very nice!!!
What a beautiful poem! It's your turn! Post a topic under this post and I will return the favor...it won't be quiet as poetic, but I will give it a spin!

You can also post under the main post and start a new thread.

Goddess awakens from the deepest recesses of the damp, dark earth... timeless in Her love and efforts to help Mother Earth and all mud people through the beginning of the end of their struggles into another realm, another dimension, where the word freedom is only a shadow of the truth which awaits those whose hearts are kept in love.

Light & Love to all

EDIT: Stellanoir, I did not read but the first two lines of your poem, btw before going off on my own tangent! Intersting how close the two poems are!!!! :+

4. ok:
I had to change this one several times; 3 of the words did not want to be part of it. Here is my verse:

Eternity is timeless,
Without beginning or end;
Freedom beyond chaos and darkness.
There, I spin.
A goddess in the web of light.

14. Tree...
The Tree of Life offers an ephiphany to those whose eye would see and yet listen for the calling to join in life's dance!

20. Tree

swaying gently the tree dances her dreams

life goes on about her

eyes not really seeing who she is

ears not listening to her gentle song

she whispers quietly to the one who sleeps in her shade

and he awakes suddenly with an epiphany of what life really is.

25. Yes.
I noticed, when I was trying to choose what words to include, that I was already writing a poem in my head, and choosing the words that would go with it. Now that I'm reading the responses, I'm pleased and intrigued to see how each person's expression touches on my thoughts at the time, and then moves beyond.

I "see" this one, and then it occurs to me that DR will probably paint it at some point.

22. Tree
The sprites dance and sing around the tree.
Bringing blessings and an epiphany.
"Love is the answer" they seem to cheer.
"Let it lead your life with no fear!"
Then they float and flit up to the canopy.
"Open your heart for it has eyes to see!"
Then I awake from my dream with a start,
I know what to do, listen to my heart!

13. Hope
A tiny seed, unnoticed,
it travels a spiral beyond consciousness,
hidden behind the sensuous black veil of
cynicism.

Hope blossoms today
as you lift your eyes to the cosmos
allowing the veil to dissolve,
giving way to the flood of idealism.

Step on to that spiral path.
Follow that blossom, step by step,
until it bears the fruit
of nirvana.

18. Hope

from the other side of consciousness
the veil, like black velvet covers all reason

spiraling up through the depths of blackness
comes infinite small lights , like tiny beacons from nirvana
they grow and grow, spiraling ever higher

until the black velvet veil is pierced with sparkling beacons of hope
as many and as beautiful as the Milky Way...

Not as good as yours LWolf :)

27. Again, DR,
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 07:56 AM by LWolf
your words come with powerful imagery.

I can see it clearly, and feel the rush of hope welling up. It's great.

And there is a completion. In my poem, the veil dissolves. In your poem, the veil and the hope become one, to be recognized by all as something that was always there, if only we had the eyes to see it.

16. Hope
From the depths of Pandora's Box she rises.
She is the bringer of Nirvana called Hope.
Her spiral flight lifts a veil of surprises.
Twists and turns, she delivers the power to cope.

Her footsteps twinkle in the beautiful night sky.
Reminders of a consciousness not yet lost.
The gods saved the best for last for us to try.
Like the feel of black velvet, Hope has no cost.

This kinda sucks, but I used all the words!!

17. Cosmic Connections....
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 01:26 AM by Desertrose

Standing on the threshold of change,

I think of the choices,

center my breath,

and walk onto the stage....

let the theater begin again in a new way .

the micro and the macro.

And so humanity is standing on the threshold, ready to begin in a new way.

23. Cosmic Connections
The ancient gods thunder across the heavens, in the center is Earth!
Pax cries; "Why will they not change?!"
Athena, wise and brave, decrees; "It is their choice to deny mirth."

Papa Legba chortles; "They think they know the way."
"Let their swords continue to cross and scrape"; smirks Ares.
Ishtar replies; "The theater is about to close their play."

A hush falls among the gods as SHE enters the fray.
"The threshold has been breeched, I so decree!"
The gods bow their heads as it is the end of the human way.

"Are you still there?" says a small, little human voice.
"I need no sign, I just wanted you to know I am still here."
The Cosmic Connection is made and the gods rejoice!

SHE smiles and cries; "There is at least one god among our friends."
It is inside each of our hearts, the power to be one with them all.
The true cosmic connection is our faith with no ends.
