In my personal life it is just as amazing. I have been working on my court hearing next week and I find it quite amazing what occurred in the last 10 years. (talk about letting go, finishing up) The county agency I am bringing before the hearing was at the time a division of the county district attorney's office. The La Times exposed gross mismanagement of cases they were handling at the time and subsequent hearings and legislature resulted in the state taking these powers (and funding) away and forming a new independent department. And I was right in the middle of it. Because my case is admittedly a very tough case, nevertheless I vowed I will contribute from my own experience that others in a similar position in the future do not have to go through this bureaucratic insanity.

I had to go to my garage and pull out the old file, just because there were statements I received, which did not sound right. And I can offer a different picture from what they have painted.
Frankly it sounds like blame the victim type of a presentation, and it is clear they hold a grudge from their turmoil from those days, is it the same department after all?.

I was pleasantly surprised among the many documents and letters, the late Fr. Drinan's response to my e-mail.
Clinton was considering signing the UN Convention On The Rights of The Child at the time, but of course right-wing opposition killed it. And as Fr. Drinan said, let's hope that Strom Thurmond will have it in his heart. - he didn't. They may still be debating about it

Fast forward to today - nothing has changed. The same unwillingness, mistakes etc. So I am still fighting.
The success rate of this department hovers around the mid 40%, they're still or even more understaffed, underfunded and unmotivated. And they are being penalized (funding) by the feds every year.

Simply, just as you watch the hearings on C-Span everyone making excuses and embellishing on one end and belittling on the other just to cover their own ass is what I got.

But untruths and half-truths has been and will be revealed and I am sorry that I have to do this. I find no point in seeking further assistance from this department, even though the hearing is to stop case closure, knowing now, it is a hostile environment. I may just put it on the record and since Mr. Waxman suggested contacting other legislators,too I may take a different route towards effecting change. Still thinking. though.

btw, Waxman is a truly honorable and sincere man - I am curious how all his investigations will pan out. It may be worthwhile getting his chart. I'll check.

It is in the collective energies of the cosmos - change for the better for All will come. Once the pus is out we start healing. :) We just have to ride the energies and double our efforts.
