"Can you smudge an entire nation?"
Now this is a public demonstration I would LOVE to take part in. I think it can be done. Do you?

Can George W. Bush Be Purged?
Mayan priests purified their sacred land after Shrub scurried off. Can we do the same?

Sage is always good. Or maybe lavender. Pine is nice, too. Dried, bundled, tied with string, burned with hot, divine intent. Would it work? Do we have enough to go around? This is the question.

I speak, of course, of ritual. Purging and cleansing and purifying and, truly, burning a nicely dried, blessed smudge stick can be a terrific slice of personal magic, to rid a space (or perhaps even your own body) of negative juju or vicious spirits or just to make way for the new and the moist and the good. You can smudge a room. You can create a divine smoldering cloud and then move through the smoke, invoke change, purge the negative, invite hot licks of yes. It is a thing to do.

But here's the thing: Can you smudge an entire nation? Do we have enough lavender for 300 million? It is, all things considered, a big goddamn country. Windy. Rocky, in places. Could be tricky. Not to mention, you know, hazy. From all the smoke. Think of the potential traffic accidents. Coughing.

Important considerations, really, because it is becoming increasingly evident that a great national purifying ritual is just about exactly what we need. We are, after all, almost at that point. The Great Bleakness is nearing its end and you can veritably feel the swarm of uptight BushCo demons and malicious energies swirling around the country like happy karmic leeches, like a giant intellectual rash, like black raindrops of dank sweat from Karl Rove's evil mealy thighs.

(It gets even better at the link...)

Of course, I think Morford isn't serious about this (or is he?), but I absolutely am. A national day of smudging! Fires big and little across the country, smoldering piles of sage or lavender. Inside and out, neighbors smudging neighbors.

Gives me a warm and tingly just thinking about it.

:)

1. Some tried to send psychic light to * some time back.
But he was enveloped in a dark energy field.
No one could get thru it as I recall.

5. Ever see the photo of the Dali Lama meeting with Bush?
He was teaching Bush some hand mudra that was supposed to confer a blessing or purification or something (don't remember exactly what). I had the distinct impression that the Dali Lama was surreptitiously trying to expel evil.

This isn't the exact photo but during the same meeting I think: http://people.howstuffworks.com/escape1.htm

7. I had not seen that pic. Yes the DL doesn't look happy.
Had his work cut out for him on that blessing.

2. not with sage alone but with a surge in consciousness
Edited on Fri Mar-16-07 10:28 AM by stellanoir
Somewhere over the past year whilst screwing around on the web, I read an article about a woman who confirmed what I had suspected for a long time. That these usurpers of power were using low level magic to stay in power and that the only way to overthrow them is through massive group focus of consciousness through prayer. It resonated with me deeply so I've been posting prayers and visualizations on various sites ever since.

2. Visualize the planet bathed in a regal violet-purple light at least
momentarily once daily.

(Violet-"Purple rain, purple""reign". . . : )

It can be that simple and easy for those who are unaccustomed to routine
visualization. For reasons I'll explain in far greater specificity in
a subsequent version, violet-purple rays of transmutational light will
gently wake up several sleeping souls and solve problems, ages old in
many places and will ameliorate even circumstances most dire. Focusing
on regions most conflicted (D.C., the MidEast, Iraq. the Gulf Coast ,
and the entire continent of Africa. . .etc) will help as well.

(For those of earthier orientations who unlike many spiritualists,
don't necessarily resonate with the violet-purple vibration, another
alternative suggested by a differing source would be to project a
vibrant green around the globe. That color will most likely hasten the
healing of our woefully damaged ecosystems and many sad and bleeding
hearts as well. )

3. Side-bar question....
I don't understand the difference between low-level and high-level magic. Is it energetic/attitudinal, like LOA?

4. Well perhaps I'm a spiritual snob. LOL
But IMHO high level magic would help to enlighten and liberate more folks, help the planet, and celebrate the truth with love and laughter, whereas low level magic would repress people with distortions, deceit and be wholly unenlightened, spewing fear and hatred.

8. White hats and black hats!
Thanks. I was thinking of the high/low duality as amount of volume, or power.

The way you put it, it's about the intent.

It's the thought that counts.

10. In as much as I think we need to collectively transcend dualism
it's fairly easy to clearly see when someone is motivated for the greater good versus those who are merely covering their butt out of totally short sighted self interest.

ya know?

11. I agree about transcending dualism. Here's how I see it.
Dualities are a coin - one side is heads, the other is tails. But it's all one coin, the coin is neither heads nor tails, it is a coin.

Set the coin into motion - spinning - you can't see whether it's heads or tails, but it's still a coin.

But sometimes, sometimes, we have to make a choice based on a duality in order to progress. Heads, or tails?

Black hats, or white?

When dualism is set up as black vs white, this or that, all sorts of upsets follow.

The first Tao lesson I received, which I pray would blanket the planet ..
How many ends does a stick have?
Most people don't understand the question.
The stick has two ends.
How many sticks are there?
One.

One contains all. Dualism is false because there is one stick.

13. From some writing I did last year. . .
"Consider also being squiggle in the middle of Yin Yang symbol because at the
center of the white is black, at the center of black is white. 'Round and
'round we go. That is the trap of dualism, and why it is far more fun to be
the squiggle in the middle. The dark is simply as sacred as the light.
Problems arise when imbalances and repression and resulting deviance occur
through an unbalanced relationship between the two and not by the fault or
exclusive virtue of one or the other. (lots more on that later)

The Yin Yang symbolizes a gateway to upper universes FYI, or is at the
verrry least one of them. There are many, and are several such symbols for
every faith and culture. Though the uncircled cross is a symbol, most
crucifying and damning for many. It simply has no flow. Maybe start
circling that around."

Sounds like we're on the same page.

14. May 22
may be a good day to hold it. The Mayan Calendar people are holding a Mid-5th Day meditation day then.

As for smudging--I would suggest sage, cedar, sweetgrass, and tonk. Tonk is shelf fungus that grows on the side of trees. It can come in very handy when you wish to drive negative energies out, as it STINKS when it burns!

I once opened myself up for a psychic attack (long story), and felt like an "arrow" of energy was lodged in my back. My husband lit the tonk, and the smoke lingered around my back for an instant, and then moved away from me as if it were drawing out the 'arrow'. I could feel the physical sensation of the movement. So tonk is very powerful stuff.

16. Lakota spiritual advisor
told me about it. "Tonk" may well be the Lakota word for it. It is sometimes called artist's fungus, because artists can draw pictures on the white face of it.

17. Thanks...
I was able to google "artist's fungus" and find it. I wonder if it is available locally.
Did you get it in the wild?

I find your experience intriguing and am very interested in it.

In fact, there is tonk growing on trees just outside my flat.
