http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/03/15/koinange.africa/index.html

It's an interesting article about a treatment for aids that the president of Gambia says he received in a dream.

I have to say though, I hid the GD thread from myself because people's comments were pissing me off and I didn't want to succumb to the temptation to argue with them. Every single post was mocking the whole story out of hand. What a bunch of narrow minded people, to not even be curious whether there *might* any truth to it. While I think it's good to foster a healthy sense of skepticism and not accept everything without question, I really don't get that level of complete closed mindedness that passes for a 'scientific' outlook. Same kind of people that would have mocked Copernicus in his day as far as I'm concerned.

2. You have my sympathy
I was listening to an Art Bell broadcast that was online yesterday--a scientist who has determined we're all spiritual beings--used scientific theory to explain it-he was quite excited--but I didn't want to post it because of the "fundamentalist atheists" (my husband's term for them) would have done what was done here.

I guess we should be glad we have this safe haven from which to post.

I've noticed that most believers have even abandoned R/T to them. Those poor dears. They post some very anti-belief stuff there and rate it to the Greatest Page--and then go one to mock anyone who disagrees with them.

I know I should not let ego get involved with their games--only way I've come to deal with it is to put them on Ignore--any other ideas?

3. "fundamentalist atheists" that sums it up aptly. great term.
The thing I find funny is that the most up to date science doesn't support such a mechanical view of the universe - which is *so* 19th century really.

I've got that thread on ignore, but made the mistake of checking 'My DU' and well, curiosity got the better of me. I should know better. I don't feel any need to prove my experiences to people, but damn, I get annoyed sometimes when people out and out call me a liar, or crazy, or both. I think I'm just cranky today.

ps - what's R/T mean?

4. Religion/Theology
I still go there if there is a post that interests me, but am rather discouraged about posting there-the last time I told about my Pir saying the two greatest threats to the world were fundamentalism and materialism I was haughtily told it was bunk, basically.

I've decided if I have something to post of a religious/spiritual nature, I'll do it here or on SOUP or Muslim board.

Like you, I've had plenty of experiences that I don't feel need to be "justified", and I am very tired of being called names. What's really funny is that they have even refuted scientific evidence I have presented them (courtesy of my MD, who is a mystic)--I find it amusing that "scientific method" is God until the outcomes don't fit their world view and then the studies are dismissed out of hand with no real refutation.
