Had a strange experience in a furniture store today...
There's a store that dh and I have been purchasing furniture from since we moved into this apt. We LOVE the pieces the owner kept there. ALSO we have talked to her on many occasions and found out she was a Democrat and was also disheartened by the election, etc. So it felt great being able to take business to someone like her.

Today we visited a different store w/similiar pieces. We saw something we liked, but just to be loyal, thought we would pop by our 'usual place.' What a surprise awaited us!

Some new chick was there--most of our favorite pieces were gone, and I felt this overwhelming sense of sadness within the store. The sad feeling was so tangible to me. I inquired where the owner was (I asked for her by name). After dodging the issue initially the new lady shared that the woman I asked for 'no longer owned the store'--in her words, "she never did--it was her husband's now he's taken over this one." I was just in shock.

I feel so badly for the women we got to know. I know the sadness I felt in that store had something to do with her and how she has now lost the store (maybe she and the husband split up--CA, community property, etc.) I don't know. I really felt like I was going to cry while I was in that store.

My husband who isn't quite as sensitive as I am even said, "it doesn't FEEL the same in here now...I don't feel comfortable here like I used to..."

What did I just experience? Any thought from anyone?

:)

1. Perhaps your strong feelings are because
you and your husband have been together with the prior owner in a past lifetime. ...You care deeply about her because she's more than just an acquaintance.;-)

2. Sometimes places take on a "charge" sort of like a battery.

If you were in tune with the feel of the store before, it is possible that with strong emotion--such as an argument about the husband taking the store--the place carries some of that negative feel now. It may last for only a bit of time or it might be something that continues for a while.

I don't know if you've ever had the experience, but have you ever walked into someone's home and just felt the tension and anger when they outwardly seemed ok? That is the same kind of thing at work.

I don't really put a lot of "mystic" meaning to it all. IMO, it is just that the energy of the anger lingers after the event. If you think about it, the laws of physics support the idea that energy doesn't just vanish--it either dissipates or is transferred. I really don't see why emotional energy should be any different.

I'm interested to see if others here share this same general theory...

3. The universe is nothing but energy --
some of it "congealed" to make what we consider tangible things in the "real" world.

The energy of different things -- and PEOPLE -- affects everything it comes in contact with and, in reality, all of the rest of creation.

The positive energy you used to feel in the store was due to the positive vibes of its proprietor and probably your own (and other customers') positive energetic expressions which impacted the store and everything in it.

You were quite right, I'm positive, in the "sadness" you were picking up. (Trust your own instincts and ability to "read" the energy. I'm quite certain you've properly identified it.) It may be that you're picking up HER energy upon leaving the store. And/or other customers' very sad energy upon finding her gone. And, of course, your own sadness -- heightened by the experience of the palpable "sad" energy already there.

Your husband's comment that the store doesn't have the same feeling is also likely true quite aside from all the sad energy. From your description, I'm sure the previous proprietor added quite a bit of positive energy, and enlivened the place with her own chi (qi). When she's gone -- and especially under such unahppy circumstances (i.e., not necessarily her own choosing or her going to something better) -- that positive energy is also withdrawn.

All of this is part and parcel of my understanding of the principles of Feng Shui as well as simply how the energy of the universe and everything in it works. We are chi (energy) sensing mechanisms. Someone upthread mentioned that we've all had the experience of walking into a room where "the tension was so thick I could cut it with a knife" -- we're picking up the "vibes" or energy or chi or qi of the place.

All humans, and in fact all sentient beings, can do that. (Animals are especially good at it.) Some of us pay attention and cultivate the skill, some try to shake or shrug it off. It's quite a aluable skill. It can let you know what people and circumstances and places are GOOD for you, and which are to be avoided -- sometimes urgently.

4. This is all so educational
I'm so new to listening to these sort of things and giving them validity in my life. I appreciate what everyone said here about this. I feel that all of your theories have some credibility for this situation.

Since I am new to allowing myself to go with these sort of feelings, it was important for me to get feedback from those of you that are 'wiser' in terms of these situations.

Thank you ALL!
:hi:
