A general "howdy," a question, a fun little widget for Opera, and some other stuff.

Hi everyone. :hi: As I posted elsewhere, I'm getting a bit "twitchy" from posting and reading GD. Between the primaries and Prop H8, I need a break from all the angst, anger, and my own sensitive Self. I've been reading more regularly over here so I thought the least I could do was come out of lurk mode and say "hi," and Thank you! There are always so many interesting posts and ideas over here.

My question is, do any of you use online tarot reading sites? I've looked at facade.com and I wonder what you think of online sites such as that. Just an opinion or an experience you've had. I've had fun with the one at facade but I'm not sure if it's as good as having a real person throw a spread for me. As with astrology, I know just enough to know I don't know near enough so it's more entertaining than informative for me.

The fun little widget, if you have the Opera web browser is called PlanetWerks. It's a fun little do-hickey that shows planetary movement. Not necessarily very useful, but interesting and fun just the same. I don't work for PlanetWerks or Opera; I just thought some here might enjoy the widget. I also like Opera as a browser. I just switched from Firefox to Opera and I'm having fun playing with it and all the fun little thinga-ma-bobs it includes. It seems to run faster (for me) than Firefox did; so that's a plus as well. /end of unsolicited testimonial

Someone posted a link to Chaos Astrology last week (I think it was) and I'd like to thank whomever that was. I read up on my chart and it had explanations of the Houses that - finally - made some sense to me. So now I know even a little more about how much I don't know. LOL

Another poster mentioned "Indigo Scouts" and I went clicking around the google about that, as well. I hadn't heard of them before. Very interesting.

Oh, and the Psychic Consortium threads have been mesmerizing. Thank you!

Okay, that was sort of a catch-up brain dump. Thank you! for the information, links, and ideas and for reading this far. :D

:hi:

edit because I didn't like the way the subject line read.

2. Thank you, I Have A Dream.
I kind of bounce in then out (mostly out) then back in again. I presume it's my Libra pendulum swinging all over looking for "center"/balance. :D

Time for me to focus (dammit!) and "settle" a bit.

:D

3. Well, one of the nicest things about this forum is that it's always...
here waiting -- a safe oasis from the (often wonderful) craziness of most of the rest of DU.

Sounds as though you're feeling the need to ground a bit.

:)

4. At the very least - grounding, that is.
I may have to start a recovery program for my addiction to GD. *chorttle*

This is the forum I always come to read when the rest of DU is starting to impinge on my sensitivities. I love the people who post here. I really want to spend more time here telling them so. (I was going to say, "I really should..." but that "should" word can be icky.)

5. Hi, Cerridwen! As I Have A Dream says, this is the place for grounding.
I can attest to that :hi:

6. Indeed it is, tcdq, indeed it is.
I'm working on that very thing as I read and type.

7. Welcome, friend!
Well met!

Here is an excellent site for Tarot card meanings:

http://www.ata-tarot.com/resource/cards/

Please note, that link is at the American Tarot Association. Good folks with a lot of good info there. They have a link to a free reading site, dunno how it is--I've never used it. You might like http://www.tarot.com/ because they have links to a bunch of different reading sites.

Regards!

Laura

9. Hi Cerridwen!
Welcome to the ooga, booga, smooga, etc. forum. It's good place to hide out from GD. When you are feeling a bit ragged from the battles, come here to refresh yourself. Also, you can post your feelings and intuitions here without a load of rudeness from the skeptics heaped on you.

10. Hey, Cleita.
It's so good to see you over here. We do keep "bumping" into each other around these here forums and groups. :D

Yah, GD has become...well, I'm not sure what. It's definately a place I can do without for a while. I love the people over here in ASAH and the energy they bring to all the discussions. It feels good to be "home" again.

:hi:

11. Hay thar, Cerridwen!

And another Opera user at that! :D
I've been using this browser since version 3.5, back when you had to pay for the software
Never got into all the bells and whistles, though. Since I never liked Firefox (tried it, hated it) I never got into all the "extensions" stuff either. Just give me my "woodworks" skin and a hundred tabbed windows up at once and ah'm happy

I'm not really an astrology-person, but am into plenty of the other newage things out there. Your mention of the Indigo Scouts reminded me of a site I once found during a search for Spiritual connections to Chiron (Kheiron, kentauros, centaur) and found the following through the Internet Archive (the original links were dead by now)

The First Wave of The New Children
The Second Wave of New Children
The Third Wave of the New Children
The Fourth Wave of the New Children
The Fifth Wave of the New Children
The Sixth Wave of the New Children
The Seventh Wave of the New Children

Lots and lots to read, so bookmark, copy'n'paste, just in case the Archive doesn't keep the sites forever ;)

Oh, and I find The Lounge grounding, too, if in a 'funner' way

12. Hay thar, kentauros!
I remember trying Opera waaaaaay back in the day. Back then there was Netscape and IE and some text browsers and Firefox didn't yet exist, if I remember correctly. For some reason, Opera didn't work well for me at the time. Fortunately, someone mentioned it the other day and I decided to go check it out. Firefox has been acting bloated and sluggish.

Opera is a nice clean change. Playing with the widgets has been fun. I learned a little more about the PlanetWerks one. It has more features than I thought at first. The multiGMail email account checker is nice, too; if you have more than one Gmail account. Ooo, ooo and the binary clock and...oops. I'm off into nerdy kid mode playing with the widgets. LOL

Hee hee. I thought I was the only one who had a boat load of tabs open at once. One of my fave-o-rite browser features. Beats the heck out of having multiple instances of a browser open and eating up resources and creating conflicts.

Thank you! for all the links about Indigo Scouts. I'll go check 'em out. Lots 'o stuff to read. :D That oughta keep me busy for a while.

Good to meet you. Thanks again.

:hi:

13. You're welcome :)
Great to meet you, too

I remember Netscape back when it was a great browser. Then, they "upgraded" it, so that it crashed all the time and everyone hated it. I think that's about the time we switched over to Opera, though my wife at the time stayed with IE anyway. The Internet was a wylder place back then and easier to navigate ;)

I may look at the widgets eventually, when I have more time, like when the Earth slows down and I can have my 20 hours awake and still get eight hours' of sleep :P

On the bit about all these tabbed windows, I lost one session due to too many open and then lost a bunch of pages I hadn't bookmarked yet. So, no more than 200 pages open at once!

Oh, you may have noticed by now that the links are for all of the types of children, and that the Indigos are just a subset. I know I have heard of others, like crystal scouts and so on. If you are not aware of it yet, here's the link to HayHouse and HayHouseRadio as they publish and talk about these subjects, among many :)

14. Welcome!
:hi:

Your reasons for hanging out here sound vaguely familiar... I could have written that too. Love DU but there is such a thing as too much information.
