I am thrilled to say that my husband got a new database administrator job yesterday. We are so excited! He starts Jan. 26. He was laid off his previous job two days before Christmas due to downsizing.

The new job is with a big firm, and will involve commuting to Washington DC on the Metro, which he's done plenty of times before. The only downside, he says, is that he will have to wear a tie.

We are a little bit stunned at how fast this happened. It was the first interview he had had during this job search. Two hours after he got home yesterday, they called and told him he was hired. This morning they called to confirm it.

This means that we will have health benefits for our 22-year-old daughter, who is a full time college student. Now she will be able to get counseling to help with her anxiety problems and other difficulties.

I can't thank all of you wonderful people on the ASAH forum enough for your supportive posts and offers of good thoughts, vibes and prayers. This seems like a miracle. I hope that I can offer all of you dear people the same love and support that you've given me.

Hey, Mr. MG is a DBA too--just got into the field a couple of years ago, and the one thing he says is great about the profession is that it's a growing one and will boom in the near future. He says that with all the data needing to be wrangled, the need for DBAs will only increase.
