A really excellent Esoteric movie worth seeing "Youth Without Youth"
It stars Tim Roth :loveya: and the screenplay was written by Francis Ford Coppola.

A love story wrapped in a mystery. Set in Europe before WWII, a timid professor is changed by a cataclysmic event and explores the mysteries of life.

1938, Romania: at 70, a professor of language and philosophy, Dominic Matei, contemplates suicide: the love of his life is dead, and he remains unable to complete his life's work on the origins of language. Then, he's struck by lightning. After a slow recovery, he grows younger. He must now avoid Nazis, who want to study and experiment on him. Some years later, he meets a young woman who has her own passage through a lightning storm. Not only does Dominic find love again, but her new abilities hold the key to his research. Is the sweetness of life finally at hand?

I don't think the above analysis gives to much away, because it isn't exactly how I interrupted the movie at all. It left me wondering about the search for meaning and a great call for introspection on the duality of man, which is my own analysis of the story itself.

If you get the chance to see this I highly recommend it. It is being shown on On Demand in my area.

If anyone else has seen it perhaps we could discuss it.

1. I haven't seen it, MM, but I'll look for it on my On Demand listing.
I'm always looking for a good movie there. (They seem to be few and far between.)

Thank you so much for bringing it up here. :)

:hi: Forgot that I have on demand. You're right, I Have A Dream. I've completely stopped checking those listings for the same reason.
Sorry about that MagicMuffin! For some reason, Shalla Kali has been chiming through my head like a mantra. I've caught myself on several post but missed this one :(

4. Tim Roth was in Rob Roy...
and played one of the most evil bad guys I have ever seen on film. Very silly of me but it would be very difficult to see him as a love interest. Will try to view when available on rental. It sounds intriguing.

7. Tim Roth does love to the play bad guys
But he has played some rather nonviolent guys.

Some of his best movies

**The Legend of 1900 (1998) ... Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon Nineteen Hundred '1900'

**Dark Water (2005) .... Jeff Platzer

**Vincent & Theo (1990) .... Vincent Van Gogh

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (1990) .... Guildenstern

** One of the best Roth movies I've ever seen with the exception of Youth Without Youth.

Tim also has a new TV series on Fox "Lie to Me" where he plays a detective of facial expressions. He can determine when someone is lying by facial expressions and body language that he learned the skills while in the African jungles.

8. I will have to rethink this guy it seems.
Have to admit, Rob Roy was one of our favorite carthartic movies these past 8 years - nice to see a really really bad guy (read Bush) get his comeuppance.
