This is not like me. I'm scared. Dream.
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 02:02 AM by Why Syzygy
And need to talk. I'm alone here, and the locks on the house aren't very secure. There are loud dogs next door and two here, so there's a warning system. Last night they all started up about midnight. That's an unusual time for them to go on barking. Then I heard a helicopter overhead. It was either care flight or police. Can't see. I was too scared to sleep at all.

Just now, thought I heard some noises in there, but no dog barking. They are restless, though.

This fear is all related to a dream I had earlier in the week. I can't shake it. As the dream progressed, I was in a back yard with a friend. Two smarmy guys came down the alley and stopped. I could tell they were *bad guys*, but my friend just started talking to them. We had a big dog, and one of the guys had the dog come out and got between the dog and my friend and I, still in the alley. I had some peanuts I had been cleaning up, and called the dog over to feed him a few pieces. I also had to send my friend a verbal code message that she shouldn't be talking to these guys. She understood.

So the bad guy who did all the talking told me I shouldn't be feeding the dog peanuts. That got my suspicions up even more. None of his biz, but control freakish. So, now I had my dog, and the friend was alerted, so we started to move into the house. Of course the bad guys followed us. I went out the front to flag down someone to help. The guys were standing in the doorway, expressing faux indignation that I would consider them a threat. I did manage to tell someone that was passing by that we were being held hostage and call 911. My friend was still trapped inside the house. The last thing I remembered was the guy pulling me back inside. I woke up.

I mentioned in another thread that I have only recently started remembering dreams. I know this represents something sub-conscious. A fear? Not sure. In order to start remembering again, I started setting the intention every night for the remembrance. It just dawned on me that now I need to get my lucid dreaming skill back up and running so I can deal with these bastids in dream time.

I may have some clues about the personal meaning. I just don't understand why I am so scared by the dream, and continue to have those feelings when I check out the window to see if the dogs are barking at *anything*.

It will have helped to get it out. I hope. Thanks for reading.

1. I am sending Reiki and protective vibes your way just in case
Hopefully it is all just subconscious muck surfacing and all the vibes will be needed for to help you get a handle on the dreaming

Oh one more thing - with your permission can I Reiki your property and house to repell bad vibes including those still inside a person? I do this to help cut down on me picking up other people's stuff that they purge yuk as they sleep and dream. I have fewer nightmares when I do this and if I do I at least know it's my own crud and not my neighbors nightterrors leaking.

Sometimes when I get more than the occasional horrid dream I try asking my Guardian Angel & allies to follow me in my dreams to remind me to take control & if I can't to do it for me to switch to something not horrid that still shows me what, if anything, I need to know from the dream.

3. Hey.
Maybe I am picking up something from the dogs. There's a miniature schnauzer and mini dachshund. And my cat. I can give permission for all of us, but not the occupant who is not here right now. Miniatures seem to be more skittish, don't they? They've known me for a long time. When I was here before, in 2001-2003, when their master was out of town, they slept with me. They can't do that now because they haven't made very good friends with Boogie yet. I am putting them in master's bed, where they usually sleep.

Yes. You may!

I'm going to *turn on* lucid dreaming starting tonight. I had to learn that YEARS ago in order to deal with nightmares. I just haven't had any in so very long.

Thanks, Shallah Kali.
Hey! I have something for you. This was on the site that provided my name change. I was going to post it earlier, but browser issues thwarted.
I haven't read it all. Maybe something there for you? >

2. Dreams like this feel so real. I'm sorry that you've gotten so spooked...
I would also if I had had it.

I recommend that you visualize yourself surrounded by a tube filled with protective white light that cannot be entered by anyone or anything will ill-intent. I'm visualizing this for you right now, and I'm asking that you be surrounded by angels to help you feel peaceful and safe.

I also ask that the Universe help you to understand the dream and to deal with whatever it means so that you don't have to ever repeat it.

:hug::hug:

4. Thank you, Dream.
I had thought of writing the dream here when it happened. But, there's been so much else going on, and I couldn't see a purpose.

I really need to get some sleep. Hate to admit I haven't slept since I awoke Thursday morning.
I've been through this before, but it is not good.

5. Hi Syz
I seem to recall you mentioning a recent move. If so, the dream might have something to do with
the natural vulnerabilities that crop up when we relocate or find ourselves in an unfamiliar place.

OTOH, some things that stuck out for me, assuming you are everyone/thing in your dream, is that
your more outgoing nature (your friend) is perhaps not trusted by you to recognize 'bad guys' and so must be 'protected'. Dogs play different roles in dreams (protector, companion) but generally represent our instinctive side. And 'bad guys' are generally our unconscious shadow that threatens to overcome our waking lives as they attempt to integrate or become conscious. Perhaps some part of you is trying to emerge and feels threatening, might 'control' you, etc.

I have had similar dreams and just feel so vulnerable and powerless!

(((Big Hug))). I like Dreams idea of visualizing yourself protected in white light.

7. I certainly picked up that
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 02:34 PM by Why Syzygy
*bad guys* represented the Shadow. This will require more reflection, but your insights are very helpful. The dog was definitely the protector, and I felt the bad guy was trying to separate me (us) from that protection in order to make his aggressive move. It wasn't so much the friend needed protection. I thought she was putting us in danger. It was I who needed protection from her gullibility.

Yes, a recent move. I'm staying with my first ex-husband, son's dad. I've known him since I was 19, he was 29. I thought the dream may have some tie ins to him as well, or the parts of me still triggered by being around him. We've been divorced since 1980. I lived here once before, after 911, for about 1.5 years. I live in my son's old bedroom. He has always been a control freak. We are both oldest in birth order, and that always causes some power struggles, in my experience. I'm not the extreme control freak I once was. I've had to give up so much power over the years, that I had to get over a lot of it. Plus, we are both Leo suns. He did a couple of things my first few days here that rather shocked me. It seemed like he was trying to open a door back into *something* going on between us. If he decided to be persistent in that direction, I would not be able to stay. That's one hornet's nest I will never approach. It just felt like those experiences may have been related to the nightmare.

Thank you for adding your insights. Very helpful.

6. I certainly understand how unnerving dreams like that can be
Several months ago I had a dream something like yours

An intruder came into our house. He proceeded down the hallway and grabbed my hand while I was sleeping, it woke me up and I was trying to grab my hand back from him. The sun is just starting to come up and I can see him and into the hallway.

I'm able to eventually get out of the bed and I chase him down the hallway and into our living room where I have some sort of weapon (perhaps a bat) and I start giving him the beating of his life. I even tie him up so he can't escape and continue beating him up, I guess I wanted him to know he was messing with the wrong person.

I wake up from the dream my heart racing and staring into the hallway. The sun is just starting to get light inside the house, so I can see into the hallway, I kept expecting someone to come walking down the hallway into my room. It takes me a while to get back to sleep, because the dream was so real. I don't have that many dreams about my house, so that one was very disturbing.

If you know how to lucid dream then at least that can give you some control over your dream world.

Also give your home an ever expanding protective white light, letting it extend to every inch of your yard from the center of your being and extending outward. Ask your Spirit Guides to protect your home and yourself.

Keep us inform if this helps.

8. Finally got some sleep.
Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 02:41 PM by Why Syzygy
Basically passed out after 40+ hours awake. Didn't dream, that I recall

Those are terrifying situations. I'm glad you can relate.

In 1987, I gave up alcohol after some five years of heavy drinking. I started having nightmares immediately. I was a Christian then, and so *learned* to react in my dream, and just call out for "Jesus". I remember the first time I did, I was dreaming that the entire sky was filled with huge tornadoes. People were running scared in every direction. I was standing on a bridge, looked up at the skies, and just started calling that name. It worked. That progressed to where I could take actions to thwart any harm coming to me in a dream. This can be done with any of your deities, I'm sure. Whoever you hold as your protector. Of course, you were doing an excellent job of defending yourself!

9. Why Sygyzy
i haven't read all the posts yet, but am seeing you filled with diamond white light, happy and feeling the Divine Presence within and without...what E. Tolle calls our animating energy, including the breath.

This may not be pertinent, but i only have nightmares which are horrifying and EPIC(!) when i drink red wine.
My dream class teacher told us that every single thing, no matter how inanimate looking... is us, just like this life dream is us...albeit the unconscious= our negative memories, patterns, beliefs, thoughts words and deeds...gathered and still residing in our subtle bodies from past lifetimes.

After all, who is the dreamer creating the dream? Thanks for being so brave as to share....

10. An attachment
is trying to hang on.
Whatever practices and/or rituals you do seem to be working or it would not have try to frighten you away from continueing down your path.Don't stop or the attachment wins.

11. Would you be willing to say more about that?
I'm not sure I understand.

Is it something like this: When I first decided to pursue the new spiritual direction, I faced what I felt at the time was a trial. It took awhile to make a firm decision. It was a thoughtful, more than emotional decision, which developed over the course of several days, maybe even longer than a week. I slipped it on, check the fit, slip it off again. I did gage my emotions during the try outs. But, once the decision was made, I faced several immediate set backs. I don't remember all that happened. But, for one, I quit my job, which I hated. Someone broke into my car for no good reason. There was nothing of value. My car was acting up in general, which it had never done. What the pre-change me would have typically done was fall into despair. There was a strong pull in that direction. I knew that I had to resist that option. Amazingly, I was able to hold onto my equanimity. I refused Despair entry.

Or did you have something else in mind?
Even if you can't comment further, I really appreciate your input here.

12. What you went through then
is known in my buddha school as the period of trials and tribulations.
Having a run of seemingly bad luck is common for those starting down some spiritual paths. In some cases it is the result of attachments letting go and in others it is karma demanding payback.
Whichever the case, the correct thing to do is not give in but continue down the path.

Sounds like your doing that to me.

13. If I pursued
a strict Buddha path, I would follow the same as your's. I'm ready to rotate on out.
Always interested in your input for that very reason.

14. ***
I forgot to comment, re: karma payback. That's what it felt like at the time. Actually a combination. Temptation to despair and karma or exchange. But I had a knowing that there were some things that I may have received before the switch that were going to be demanded to be returned in kind. Not that I ever broke into anyone's car! It's the energy, not the manifestation. So, I let it all go. Whatever was asked or taken. Let it go with no despair and no bitterness.

Another event I had forgotten, I was up for a plum job, very close. It didn't turn out.

Shortly after all the stripping, something unexpected happened that completely turned out favorably on my behalf.
I had not made that connection to how that turn of events came about.
