does that mean it would not promote tooth decay despite being so sugary?

1. Antiseptic

My understanding is that it doesn't spoil because its water content is so low that if bacteria get in it, it basically sucks the water out of the bacteria and kills it. There's a scientific word for having that property but I can never remember what it is.

Although there may be something in honey that has additional antiseptic properties, AFAIK it isn't known and probably isn't really strong. When you dilute honey, it loses its antiseptic properties. So in your mouth, diluted by saliva, it's just another sugar.

2. Also has allergy fighting qualities

especially f it is local honey made from the very same plants whose pollins set off the allergic response.
