On the night before Mother's day I dreamed that I was back at my old job waitressing at a Country Club, where I worked two sittings on Mother's Day every year for ten years. Five of those as a waitress, and the last five as a special food decorator in the pantry. This was almost twenty years ago. In my dream I was reporting to work, but because they had undergone a massive building addition, I couldn't find my way around. There were different rooms in separate buildings where private parties were going on, and although I ran into a few familiar faces among the personnel, and the same Chef I'd worked with, no one could tell me what they needed me to do. Every entrance to a room was blocked by something, even the stairways were blocked by "things" that didn't belong on stairways. ie pots and pans, boxes and crates of produce etc. For some reason in my dream I had my nearly 3 yr. old crystal grandson with me. Every once in a while in my searching, he'd get away from me, but I always found him safely interacting with total strangers who were looking out for him. I finally found a lovely room. It was very large, and had warm natural wood paneling, with a nautical decor. There were long low windows that over looked a large deck which in turn overlooked a lake. My feelings in this room was that " this is lovely" and I would liked to have worked in there, but it was totally empty. As I walked out of this room I looked up, and over the doorway, hand carved into the wood was the name "Tween Deck". It was then I realized that my grandson Aidan had wandered off again and went to search him out. Then I woke up!! end of dream...but the next day was a nightmare. I had been hoping and praying that I would have a good day without back pain and bathroom problems, as my kids were taking me out for brunch at a new restaurant in Litchfield. I felt OK for a change, but decided to opt out of the "buffet" and order something off the limited and EXPENSIVE menu 'cause I didn't want to stand in line. Poor choice as my family was all done eating before my dinner finally came. I had been working on my salad and rolls while they ate, and I had my coffee, so I was satisfied. when they brought my dinner my daughter complained about the slow service from the kitchen and asked them to "comp" it. Most places around here will do it, just for goodwill, but this one dug in their heels and wouldn't give an inch as my dinner was finally delivered. I told them to put it in a doggy bag seeing that we were going to have to pay for it. It's a good thing I brought it home, because I would have had to send it back had I eaten it there! The scalloped potatoes were half raw!! The straw on the camels back was on the way back to my house from my daughters (I was driving alone) a red fox ran across the road in front of my car carrying a screaming cat in it's mouth, and down into the woods!! The sight of this sickened me so fiercely that I called the local police to report it, and asked them to notify the local TV stations to post a bulletin warning people to keep their small animals in at night. (this was early afternoon when I saw it.) First time I've seen a fox in my area in five years. Have to close now because my back is hurting again! JA
