It's so frustrating trying to search for a name when all you have is a visual. You just keep looking hoping it turns up.

1. If it's indigenous to your area

check your local Native Plant Society. They will have be able to tell you.

It's some sort of Allium, or onion.

Very pretty.



On edit: Maybe A. bulgaricum? :shrug:

3. Yes, you did, you did!

and definitely the bulgaricum. It's planted in the Shakespeare garden and at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which usually has signs but I couldn't see the ones for these. I was seeing so many of the round blue/purple ones, I didn't even have a clue that these might be related.
