Spring arrived over the weekend:

The ornamental trees in my corner of San Francisco started blooming over the weekend. I took this photo yesterday while I was walking to work.
Thought I'd pass along the good news: spring is coming your way. :D

When I lived in the midwest, I always thought spring was just around the corner when I saw robins out in the yard. And once the forsythia bushes bloom -- you're in the clear. Usually. :D

Unfortunately, my garden is shaded by our building until March. I can't wait until the sun rises above our roof line so that the garden can get at least 2 -3 hours of consistent sunshine each day. I planted some new irises last fall and I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll do this spring (so far, so good).

5. No robins or forsythia blooms until March

But it is Oklahoma and the forecast for Sunday is sunny and 76 degrees!

It gives me hope that Spring will arrive in Iowa sometime in the next couple of months.

4. I noticed that something seemed to be in the early stages of budding here in NC, too.

6. There is some kind of tree pollen in the air

and my sinuses and wheezing lungs tell me that spring is slowly on its way to Maryland. When I go out to get the newspaper in the morning, there are a few birds already making sounds in the bushes. Soon the maple trees will be blushing a faint red with their tiny blossoms.
