1. Here's a good one I use
http://www.highcountrygardens.com/

A little pricey but they are highly rated and their plants arrive in great shape.:hi:

3. This isn't a source, but an observation -- on Darwin's birthday no less -- about lawns
One of the things I refuse to do is water my lawn. It just seems outrageously wasteful. I live in NYC which is generally a rainy part of the country in the summer, but we do have stretches of dry summer, and most people with lawns water them.

After about 3 years of not watering my lawn, my lawn seems to be much more drought resistant than it used to be. I think the grasses that relied on weekly (or more) watering have died out and the tougher ones have survived. People who constantly water their lawns, by contrast, seem to be selecting for grasses that do best with weekly watering.

It seems to me that one step toward xeriscaping is simply not watering -- especially whatever grasses you have.

4. Lawns... I'm not a fan
I was thinking more along the lines of big, happy bunchgrasses to replace the lawn with. :D

5. My neighbors hate my yard
but as I tell them, we're in a drought & only have one water source, so I'd like to save that for drinking & cleaning, thanks kindly. :)

Weeds are incredibly drought resistant, btw. :eyes:

6. Don't know about that,
but I'm in the process of turning front and back yards into veggie and fruit gardens. Raised veggie garden in the back, fruit trees, flowers, and what I refer to as "ornamental edibles" in the front, with interconnecting pathways. No more grass-a colossal waste of time, energy, space, and water!

7. Do you mean to buy them or learn about them?
Here are a few I know about, but I'm in southern CA. I think you can order plants from them, though.

This is a great one:

Here's another source for purchasing plants:
